Uncle Joe Posted August 14, 2008 Report Posted August 14, 2008 How is Adware different from spybot? Do I need them both? Shannon, run AdAware and immediately afterward run Spybot. Spybot always detects something that AdAware didn't. That's how it came recommended to me and I find that it works like a charm. I've never tried the process in reverse order (he said anticipating someone's question). Kev, make like Edith Bunker and stifle. Shawna, don't stick youir butt out like that.
Mars88 Posted August 14, 2008 Report Posted August 14, 2008 Uncle Joe, I updated to the most current Spybot and since then all the scans have come up clean...whereas before it frequently caught items (tracking cookies, etc..)to be deleted. Is the program getting stuff before it gets onto the computer, or is it malfunctioning?
Kevin Posted August 14, 2008 Author Report Posted August 14, 2008 Kev, make like Edith Bunker and stifle. Since no one has ever put it that way , I guess I will !
Uncle Joe Posted August 14, 2008 Report Posted August 14, 2008 Marsha....I'm not sure. Have you upgraded your operating System or anti-virus system? Have you changed any of your security and/or privacy settings? If not I don't know the reason for the clean scans. I'm not that techno-ficient.
Mars88 Posted August 14, 2008 Report Posted August 14, 2008 LOL, Uncle Joe...Mars = first initial of my three childrens' names and the first initial of our last name! The computers have been running very slow, I will need to do something drastic soon. I am trying to avoid the re-formatting procedure, but I may not be able to avoid it...
Kevin Posted August 14, 2008 Author Report Posted August 14, 2008 I am definitely going to pitch my 'homeless ' tent ( plastic sheet only ) just outside of your property - so you can't legally shoot me- at the next " Big Pig Jig " !
Otokichi Posted August 14, 2008 Report Posted August 14, 2008 I see that Kevin has been eating improperly prepared Fugu Sashimi again.
Kevin Posted August 14, 2008 Author Report Posted August 14, 2008 ... and I see that Otokichi is eating up all that I regurgitate for that double buzz !
Otokichi Posted August 14, 2008 Report Posted August 14, 2008 (edited) Naah, I send the material to North Korea to be turned into "fissionable materials." Edited August 14, 2008 by Guest
Kevin Posted August 14, 2008 Author Report Posted August 14, 2008 You didn't accept a cheque , I hope .
Kevin Posted August 14, 2008 Author Report Posted August 14, 2008 Better Red than dead ... unless one were a Fish .
Otokichi Posted August 14, 2008 Report Posted August 14, 2008 As I recall, some Snapper species harbor Ciguatera toxins. Then there are the odd worms and flukes found in the Tuna family.
Kevin Posted August 14, 2008 Author Report Posted August 14, 2008 That explains a number of things then ...
MarcM Posted August 14, 2008 Report Posted August 14, 2008 Like that time both Tuna brothers won the lottery?
Farin Posted August 14, 2008 Report Posted August 14, 2008 Shannon, run AdAware and immediately afterward run Spybot. Spybot always detects something that AdAware didn't. That's how it came recommended to me and I find that it works like a charm. I've never tried the process in reverse order (he said anticipating someone's question). then why using ad-aware at all? Uncle Joe, I updated to the most current Spybot and since then all the scans have come up clean...whereas before it frequently caught items (tracking cookies, etc..)to be deleted. Is the program getting stuff before it gets onto the computer, or is it malfunctioning? spybot (and ad-aware too) have a real-time protection additionally to the system scans
