skybluesky Posted August 13, 2008 Report Posted August 13, 2008 Does any one use Spyware Doctor or Norton Security Scan? Do I need both of them, since Norton also checks for spyware? Are there any other better, free anti spyware downloads available?
The Seeker Posted August 13, 2008 Report Posted August 13, 2008 I used Spyware Doctor once, it's supposed to be quite good I think... but then it started to crash everything on start-up almost every single time up to the point at which I had to reboot my laptop four or five times until it finally worked, every day... had to uninstall it in Safe Mode. But until then, it worked very well.

Uncle Joe Posted August 13, 2008 Report Posted August 13, 2008 I've been using LavaSoft's AdAware for years and find it to be quite effective in finding and destroying spyware, especially in combination with Spybot. Here are the free download sites: AdAware Spybot Lately I've used Norton's regular sypware filter with good success.

Farin Posted August 13, 2008 Report Posted August 13, 2008 Is one better for "viri ?" no, these aren't used against viri () at all - you need an anti-virus programm for that they're against spy- or malware, eg tracking cookies, changes in the registry and stuff like that
