Thanks, edna.  It isn't my husband who's like that, it's my mother-in-law.  She has early stage dementia now, but for years, she has been a negative person, or at least puts that energy out.  If it's sunny, it's "too bright", if it's raining, then "The day is ruined" etc.  We all feel like that at times, but if it's constant, it's not healthy.

Anyway, I got the job :grin::thumbsup:  I start on Feb 18.  I actually just wrote my resignation letter for my supermarket job.  I will be in a great mood my last two weeks there

Last day at the supermarket. Not really sad to go, but a bit nervous about new job tomorrow.  A couple of people who used to work there have already given me some subtle warnings.  I'm just trying to tell myself that everyone's experience is different and if it's that terrible, I will give myself six months and look for something else.  In the meantime, just enjoy the learning experience and having some money in my pocket

Good luck Jenny!....And my work is telling me I will be taking one of my residents to Atlantic City in June, all expenses paid for...Even though it's a big responsibility looking after a resident, I'm sure he appreciates that I am taking him and will enjoy the trip....I'm looking forward to enjoying the sites also.  :)

AC is nice if you stay on the boardwalk and near the casinos.  It will be too cold to swim, but nice enough to walk and enjoy the sea breeze.  We are planning a family vacation for my parents' 50th wedding anniversary this August.  They didn't want us to spend money and go anywhere we had to fly, so after considering the Jersey shore, the Poconos...everyone's coming to our house.  We live 10 minutes from a water park and within a decent drive from so many beautiful places, plus we have a lake and beach right in our neighborhood.  It'll be so much fun..thank God we have 5 months to prepare.  It'll take me that long to get the house organized

The Antique Archeology van rolls up. Frank and Mike climb out, papers in hand, and introduce themselves as "Pickers" interested in "rusty gold." After a long, practiced look at the golf trophy, Mike Wolfe offers $100 for the "scuffed and tarnished" item. Frank heads to another building on the property, in search of unusual oil cans, broken toys, and a "redneck taxi." Negotiations continue, bundles are created, and as the van heads off into the sunset, there's a feeling of "one load headed for the landfill just got tiurned into cash.";)

Tim Urban came to my town tonight. Not the guy who does the Ted talks, but the fellow who finished seventh on American Idol Season 9 (the one with Ellen DeGeneres).

I always wonder what it's like to be an Idol contestant who didn't make it big. In Tim's case, the show was all gravy. He auditioned to shut up his friends, and somehow made his way to the Top 10. This got him on the Idol tour, which took him all over America. It's a triumph of expectations.

He seemed thrilled to be playing our little town, and did a terrific set. He's got a bunch of brothers and sisters (two in the military) and apparently they all play music. One of his sisters (Abby, I think) joined him on stage a few times. Was good to see someone in it for the love of the game.
