Red Fish
Cruise 'is Christ' of Scientology Tom Cruise is the new “Christ†of Scientology, according to leaders of the cult-like religion. The Mission: Impossible star has been told he has been “chosen†to spread the word of his faith throughout the world. And leader David Miscavige believes that in future, Cruise, 44, will be worshipped like Jesus for his work to raise awareness of the religion. A source close to the actor, who has risen to one of the church’s top levels, said: "Tom has been told he is Scientology’s Christ-like figure. Like Christ, he’s been criticised for his views. But future generations will realise he was right." Cruise joined the Church of Scientology in the ’80s. Leader L. Ron Hubbard claimed humans bear traces of an ancient alien civilisation. TheLizard
Ah yes, the religion created in the 60's by a science fiction author. Tom Cruise is a good Christ for them. As long as he leaves me the hell alone.

Tenacious_Peaches
Awesome! Now when I say, "Jesus H. Christ", the "H" will stand for "holier-than-thou", "hypocritical", half-witted", and "high-handed".

Kevin
Bowie did a great Pilate in 'The Last Temptation of Christ ' . I guess if poor Tom cracks up ( more ) now and dies , it'll be the Christians ( in the eyes of Scientologists ) who'll have the ' blood guilt ' on their hands and deserving of centuries of woe ... beware ! _Laurie_
When Lennon made a statement like that, people ran out into the streets and destroyed their albums,posters,etc...Shall we all gather up some Tom Cruise DVD's?
Blue Fish
Well, the Beatles were even more popular than Jesus ya know nah ah. No one ever died for the beatles. also, the beatles were/are WAY over rated...Jesus could never be over-rated and never be praised enough. as well as this, Jesus has/had more followers then the beatles did. The Seeker
I'm not getting into a Are-the-Beatles-overrated-discussion now, but just out of curiosity, did you get the joke?
_Laurie_
Blue Fish, I think Elvy know this, she was just being sarcastic...and as for the Beatles, I agree with Seeker, too long of a discussion to get into, but Lennon's statement was very misunderstood.
