TheLizard
This is shaping up to be a great Top Ten already, just from the nominations. A special to one of my favorite bands, the severely underrated They Might Be Giants.
CanAm
The Ballad Of John And Yoko - The Beatles Link I'm Alright - Kenny Loggins. I believe this was the theme to Caddyshack. However, the only version of this song on Youtube accompanies a video montage of Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire. Go Figure. Link
OLD 55
Peaches, you'll get my 10 Points for Would I Lie To You, 90s Soul that sounds like Classic 60s. I reckon Joe will like it too. And I just noticed that Radhi likes it also! And you weren't going to nominate As for many of the other Nominations - well, unfortunately I think they confirm that I'm too old for this. I should be in a 50s/60s Site. Edited January 3, 2007 by Guest Good choice Radhi. Have a squish.
Lucky
As for many of the other Nominations - well, unfortunately I think they confirm that I'm too old for this. I should be in a 50s/60s Site. DARRYL! I'm shocked! You don't belong anywhere else but right here. Everyone, things are looking really good this week! I do believe that Kevin may be the only one of our regulars who is missing, and if anyone else would like to nominate there is still time!! Thank you all for helping make this easy for me! OLD 55
Thanks but I dunno CeeCee. There's a few there I just don't know. I think it's a good idea to put video clips, because I found I DO know (and like) A Girl Like You when I watched it. One of my daughters had the single. I was trying to find a clip of the original "That's What Friends Are For", and I see Westlife and Contestants on American Idol have covered it ! I won't vote for "Ballad Of John And Yoko" because John unnecessarily used 'Christ' in the lyrics; same with "Bicycyle Race" / Queen. Just a little peculiararity of mine. I think songwriters don't have much imagination if they have to use blasphemy or bad language to get a message across. P.S. They're just my personal opinions and are certainly not directed at my good friend who nominated the song. Edited January 3, 2007 by Guest
Shawna
I won't vote for "Ballad Of John And Yoko" because John unnecessarily used 'Christ' in the lyrics; I always figured it was because it wraps up the verse pretty neatly - beginning with Christ and ending with Christ's crucifixion. "Christ, you know it ain't easy You know how hard it can be The way things are going They're gonna crucify me." Sounds to me like he's commiserating as opposed to blaspheming.
