Farin
sadly most Christmas songs tend to be heavily overplayed during the season, so even the good ones can get rather annoying but here's one I still can listen to (technicaly it's not a Christmas song, but it's used as such) Stop the Cavalry ~ Jona Lewi I can think of another one, but I'd rather not put it in the first post... PSYCHOcatholic
Same Auld Lang Syne Christmas Shoes...yes the song that was written to make you cry. Jazzcat
I still love Bing Crosby singing "White Christmas" and just about anyone doing "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas" but it's tough to beat Judy Garland.
RonJonSurfer
What else but: Good King Wenceslas : Lyrics Good King Wenceslas looked out On the feast of Stephen When the snow lay round about Deep and crisp and even Brightly shone the moon that night Though the frost was cruel When a poor man came in sight Gath'ring winter fuel "Hither, page, and stand by me If thou know'st it, telling Yonder peasant, who is he? Where and what his dwelling?" "Sire, he lives a good league hence Underneath the mountain Right against the forest fence By Saint Agnes' fountain." "Bring me flesh and bring me wine Bring me pine logs hither Thou and I will see him dine When we bear him thither." Page and monarch forth they went Forth they went together Through the rude wind's wild lament And the bitter weather "Sire, the night is darker now And the wind blows stronger Fails my heart, I know not how, I can go no longer." "Mark my footsteps, my good page Tread thou in them boldly Thou shalt find the winter's rage Freeze thy blood less coldly." In his master's steps he trod Where the snow lay dinted Heat was in the very sod Which the Saint had printed Therefore, Christian men, be sure Wealth or rank possessing Ye who now will bless the poor Shall yourselves find blessing
Shadows
My favourites (although I don't really know if they are classified as carols) are: And So This Is Christmas by John Lennon A Fairytale Of New York by The Pogues.
Shawna
my sister makes us listen to Christmas music in the shop from the day after Thanksgiving until the day after Christmas. I've come to hate it. Except Bob Rivers' Twisted Christmas. My favorite, to the tune of "Winter Wonderland" Walkin' 'Round In Women's Underwear Lacy things the wife is missin' Didn't ask her permission I'm wearin' her clothes Her silk pantyhose Walkin' 'round in women's underwear In the store there's a teddy Little straps, like spaghetti It holds me so tight Like handcuffs at night Walkin' 'round in women's underwear In the office there's a guy named Melvin, He pretends that I am Murphy Brown He'll say, "Are you ready?" I'll say, "Whoa, man! "Let's wait until our wives are out of town." Later on, if you wanna We can dress like Madonna Put on some eyeshade And join the parade Walkin' 'round in women's underwear Lacy things - missin' Didn't ask - permission Wearin' her clothes Her silk pantyhose Walkin' 'round in women's underwear Walkin' 'round in women's underwear Walkin' 'round in women's underwear

Otokichi
How very odd. No one mentions the song made up on the spot to get around a mouse-chewed organ bellows. A simple song that's gone around the world, though it was arranged for choir and guitar in a small church. The would be "Stille Nacht" aka "Silent Night," which sums up Christmas to me. Out here, it's "Po La'i E" and goes like this: Po la'i e, po kamaha'o Maluhia, malamalama Ka makuahine aloha e Ma ke keiki hemolele e Moe me ka maluhia lani Moe me ka maluhia lani
PSYCHOcatholic
Mary Did You Know...done by many artists. This was my grandmother's (God rest her soul) It was her favorite Christmas song, and tonight i was driving back from the hospital and all of a sudden this song came on. This song was played at my grandmas funeral, sung by a lady in our church. This song is just so powerful and is probably one of the most Amazing Christmas songs out there just on words alone. "Mary, did you know that your baby boy will one day walk on water? Mary, did you know that your baby boy will save our sons and daughters? Did you know, that your baby boy has come to make you new? This child that you've delivered, will soon deliver you. Mary, did you know that your baby boy will give sight to a blind man? Mary, did you know your baby boy will calm a storm with his hand? Did you know, that your baby boy has walked where angels trod? When you kiss your little baby, you've kissed the face of God. The blind will see The deaf will hear The dead will live again. The lame will leap The dumb will speak The praises of The Lamb. Mary, did you know that your baby boy is Lord of all creation? Mary, did you know that your baby boy will one day rule the nations? Did you know, that your baby boy is heaven's perfect lamb? This sleeping child you're holding, is the great I AM."
daslied
My friend made a rap version of "What Child Is This?". It's only two lines: "What child is duh in he crib And he cry like a bitch."
