Shawna
Years ago I remember hearing the term "spoonerism" and what it meant. Since then, though, I could never remember what it was, and it's driven me bananas. Also, I was unaware that Oscar Wilde was only 46 when he died... That was a really interesting list, though! I wonder who would be on a current-day list. Leona Helmsley?

Shawna
wow... that was in interesting list. I was on tenderhooks reading, while my cat was wrecking havoc on my computer desk. But I gave him free reign to do as he felt. Then I decided to type this list using rule of thumb, and felt that that particular thing begged the question, "What actually IS rule of thumb?" Actually, I found that list quite intriguing. I love finding the entymology (sp?) to common words and phrases. However, in the introduction the writer used "titbits"... a play on "tidbits"? which is correct, I wonder...
Farin
I think "titbit" is simply the BE variation of "tidbit"...
The Seeker
This is the first time I've ever come across "titbit".
Farin
really? my translator mentions it with "chiefly (Brit)" while 'tidbit' is "chiefly (Amer.)" hmm...
The Seeker
I thought it was a typo. And try pronouncing it... you either sound posh or it comes out as tidbit. Actually, I just typed tidbit, and my Chrome spell checker (UK English) underlines it... not titbit though
