callmeanimal Posted April 5, 2006 Report Posted April 5, 2006 (edited) For week three: Epitaph - King Crimson Budapest - Jethro Tull (Anderson Strikes again) Edited April 5, 2006 by Guest
OLD 55 Posted April 5, 2006 Author Report Posted April 5, 2006 Budapest - Jethro Tull (Anderson Strikes again) But there was NO flute solo in Aqualung ! No flute solo = No vote. No, I'll have a listen to it. We were raising kids when Jethro Tull was big, so I don't know many of their songs. Also they weren't really all that popular in Australia.
katie_sane Posted April 5, 2006 Report Posted April 5, 2006 I thought this week's top ten was very good, just like last week's. The nominations for the next one are really good too! Mine for list 3: I Got You - Split Enz Bang A Gong (Get It On) - T.Rex
callmeanimal Posted April 5, 2006 Report Posted April 5, 2006 (edited) There´s flute in this one, Old 55. Hope that deserves a vote! Edited April 5, 2006 by Guest
Farin Posted April 5, 2006 Report Posted April 5, 2006 For Week 3: Money for Nothing ~ Dire Straits (so we have something from the 80's) What's the Frequency, Kenneth? ~ R.E.M.
Kevin Posted April 5, 2006 Report Posted April 5, 2006 More 80's : " Suddenly , Last Summer " -- The Motels "Brass In Pocket " --The Pretenders
edna Posted April 5, 2006 Report Posted April 5, 2006 " Suddenly , Last Summer " -- The Motels I love that song and the whole album...
OLD 55 Posted April 5, 2006 Author Report Posted April 5, 2006 Yes, some good 80s songs nominated Brass In Pocket is special - just like Kevin. Farin, I don't think they'll know that R.E.M. song in the U.S. ? Animal, I'm acquiring Budapest now. I'll let you know what I think of it. Catch you later. I'm off to see "Prison Break".
OLD 55 Posted April 5, 2006 Author Report Posted April 5, 2006 There´s flute in this one, Old 55. Hope that deserves a vote! But it goes for 10 minutes and I only have a short attention span. I could have listened to 3 great 60s Pop songs in that time. Sorry Mate. Most here know that I'm not an Album track person. I'd rather listen to a good Pop song anytime. To me many of these Groups seem self indulgent. I often think "such little result from such talented artists", but I won't mention any Group names or I'll have a lot of Songfactors baying for my blood. I'm a "Pop Peasant".
Lucky Posted April 5, 2006 Report Posted April 5, 2006 Farin, I don't think they'll know that R.E.M. song in the U.S. ? Oh yeah 55 we know that song! You can bet if an old fogey like me knows it...everybody does.
Kevin Posted April 5, 2006 Report Posted April 5, 2006 Brass In Pocket is special - just like Kevin. Yeah , and I'm gonna use it ... on your nose , Darryl - if this top ten doesn' please my royal highnessessesses !
Lucky Posted April 5, 2006 Report Posted April 5, 2006 Yeah , and I'm gonna use it ... on your nose , Darryl - if this top ten doesn' please my royal highnessessesses ! Kevin, you belong with Joe and the other 2 itchy wise guys...oops sorry, wise men !!
Kevin Posted April 5, 2006 Report Posted April 5, 2006 Mine is a ' skin condition ' ... theirs is simply crabs .
OLD 55 Posted April 5, 2006 Author Report Posted April 5, 2006 I don't think most men are really itchy - just checking Kevin, I meant special as in ...uh...you know..."special". My apologies to Farin. I see What's The Frequency, Kenneth did make #21 in the U.S. I'd just noticed that a few of R.E.M.'s European Hits didn't make it Stateside, or as big anyway. Hope nobody took offence at my criticising some "supergroups" of underperforming. Really my motto is "live and let live". It'd be terribly boring if we all liked the same things wouldn't it.
Kevin Posted April 5, 2006 Report Posted April 5, 2006 Don't worry -few will pick it as it is a bizarre tune anyway ( though one of REM's better one's ) , and outta touch for of the "Aqualung "lot , likely -Hmmm . Maybe not ?! ( Hippie freaks ! That all you wanna be all your lives ? Pick it up, soldiers ! ) ... What's your's this time , big boy ?
OLD 55 Posted April 5, 2006 Author Report Posted April 5, 2006 Are you buying ? I'll just have a small one to help me sleep thanks. Sorry about that "special" crack...... I'LL VOTE FOR CHRISSIE HYNDE. THE BRASSY BABE.
Farin Posted April 5, 2006 Report Posted April 5, 2006 My apologies to Farin. I see What's The Frequency, Kenneth did make #21 in the U.S. No need to apologize, Old 55 If they don't know it, then they have to listen to it, simple as that... I, myself didn't know quite a few of the titles nominated...
