MindCrime Posted April 23, 2009 Report Posted April 23, 2009 That Burger King commercial with SpongeBob that uses Sir-Mix-Alot's "I Like Big Butts" is really getting on my nerves.
TheLizard Posted May 20, 2009 Report Posted May 20, 2009 Happiness is a warm gun... Probably not a good sign when that pops into my head while I'm at the office.
MuzikTyme Posted May 24, 2009 Report Posted May 24, 2009 Talk about an earworm...for me, this next song is an earwig... "I find my own fun, sometimes for free I got to pay it to come lookin' for me Walkin' on Gucci, wearin' Yves St. Laurent Barely stay on 'cause I'm so God..ned gaunt" One of the few Aerosmith songs that Joe Perry wrote and sang Lead vocals in. But unfortunately, Steven Tyler doesn't know how to sing back-up vocals because he's drowning out Perry! Here's where Mr. Perry shines his guitar and glass slide like a diamond. Listen and see/hear...! Combination :guitar:
BlueAngel Posted May 25, 2009 Report Posted May 25, 2009 "Bow Wow Wow" - Funkdoobiest (AKA Cypress Hill Lite) I've had the blasted chorus in my head all day: "Bow wow wow yippy yo yippy yay, to the funk, bow wow wow"
Farin Posted May 25, 2009 Report Posted May 25, 2009 ^ was that before that lil' bow wow song? that went something like "bow wow wow, yippy yo yippy yay" too right?
Farin Posted May 25, 2009 Report Posted May 25, 2009 ^ was that before that lil' bow wow song? that went something like "bow wow wow, yippy yo yippy yay" too right? ...which in turn came from "What's my Name?" by Snoop Doggy Dogg I knew I knew another version
BlueAngel Posted May 25, 2009 Report Posted May 25, 2009 Yeah, Lil Bow Wow's version came years later since Funkdoobiest's "Bow Wow Wow" and Snoop Doggy Dog's "Who Am I (What's My Name)" came out around the same time in 1993. Since both songs use the line I'm not sure who (if either) can be credited for coining it.
MindCrime Posted May 25, 2009 Report Posted May 25, 2009 "Too Shy" - Kajagoogoo One of the worst earworms of the 80s
Jenny Posted May 26, 2009 Report Posted May 26, 2009 Yeah, Lil Bow Wow's version came years later since Funkdoobiest's "Bow Wow Wow" and Snoop Doggy Dog's "Who Am I (What's My Name)" came out around the same time in 1993. Since both songs use the line I'm not sure who (if either) can be credited for coining it. Atomic Dog by Geroge Clinton Wiki link
Jenny Posted May 26, 2009 Report Posted May 26, 2009 Here's the song from Grooveshark....sorry I was too lazy to put both in one reply: Atomic Dog - George Clinton
The Seeker Posted May 28, 2009 Report Posted May 28, 2009 I've had the outro of some song stuck in my head ever since I woke up this morning, just the last five or six seconds, and for the life of me I can't figure out what song it is
pinkstones Posted May 28, 2009 Report Posted May 28, 2009 I've had the worst earworm in my head all day. "You know it's you babe, whenever I get weary and I've had enough, feel like giving up....." I hate Styx! They did only one song I like and that's Renegade.
The Seeker Posted May 29, 2009 Report Posted May 29, 2009 I've had the outro of some song stuck in my head ever since I woke up this morning, just the last five or six seconds, and for the life of me I can't figure out what song it is Got it. You know that song that plays at the end of every episode of Scrubs? Yeah.
TheLizard Posted June 29, 2009 Report Posted June 29, 2009 Stone Cold Crazy by Queen Except I don't know the words so it's just rapid-fire nonsense... which is probably what the words are anyway.
Farin Posted June 29, 2009 Report Posted June 29, 2009 Rainy afternoon I gotta blow a typhoon And I'm playing on my slide trombone Anymore anymore cannot take it anymore Gotta get away from this stone cold floor Crazy stone cold crazy you know nah, there's some philosophical statement behind that
TheLizard Posted July 1, 2009 Report Posted July 1, 2009 They call me Dr. Worm Good morning how are you I'm Dr. Worm...
Farin Posted July 1, 2009 Report Posted July 1, 2009 I like to play the drums I think I'm getting good, but I can handle criticism...
Farin Posted July 18, 2009 Report Posted July 18, 2009 And the mercy seat is waiting And I think my head is burning And in a way I'm yearning To be done with all this measuring of truth. An eye for an eye And a tooth for a tooth And anyway I told the truth And I'm not afraid to die. And the mercy seat is burning And I think my head is glowing And in a way I'm hoping To be done with all this weighing up of truth. An eye for an eye And a tooth for a tooth And I've got nothing left to lose And I'm not afraid to die. And the mercy seat is glowing And I think my head is smoking And in a way I'm hoping To be done with all this looks of disbelief. An eye for an eye And a tooth for a tooth And anyway there was no proof Nor a motive why. And the mercy seat is smoking And I think my head is melting And in a way I'm helping To be done with all this twisted of the truth. A lie for a lie And a truth for a truth And I've got nothing left to lose And I'm not afraid to die. And the mercy seat is melting And I think my blood is boiling And in a way I'm spoiling All the fun with all this truth and consequence. An eye for an eye And a truth for a truth And anyway I told the truth And I'm not afraid to die. And the mercy seat is waiting And I think my head is burning And in a way I'm yearning To be done with all this measuring of proof. A life for a life And a truth for a truth And anyway there was no proof But I'm not afraid to tell a lie. And the mercy seat is waiting And I think my head is burning And in a way I'm yearning To be done with all this measuring of truth. An eye for an eye And a truth for a truth And anyway I told the truth But I'm afraid I told a lie.

JumboXL Posted July 19, 2009 Report Posted July 19, 2009 On the subject of Earworms. Who coined that? Shouldn't it be earwigs? I'm quite surprised that the little animal is called an earwig, and that earworm is not in the English dictionary. The Dutch word for earwig is "oorwurm". The Germans call it an "Ohrwurm". Does anyone have suggestions for a good recipe against earworms? A song that easily replaces the rotten earworm music with joyful sounds? Like: after having heard the earworm "It will come in time" by Billy Preston and Syreeta, I must hear "Rainy Day Women #12 and #35" to save my day. Or Cheap Trick's "I want you to want me".
Tenacious_Peaches Posted July 19, 2009 Report Posted July 19, 2009 I have found that The Temptations "Ain't Too Proud to Beg" works every time. See?
JumboXL Posted July 21, 2009 Report Posted July 21, 2009 A new earworm is conquering Holland. This "summerhit" is played every day on Radio Tour de France, towards the end of the day's race. La Caravane Passe - "Salade, Tomate, Oignon" : . And an old earworm is having a revival: a film has been released about the sad life of Soeur Sourire and her only hit Dominique is played often: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_CIWmO7W0gc .
