_Laurie_ Posted September 2, 2005 Report Posted September 2, 2005 All had albums that were "Live At The BBC?"???
daslied Posted September 2, 2005 Report Posted September 2, 2005 (edited) 1. They each have albums named after dance styles: Genesis - Foxtrot Fleetwood Mac - Tango In The Night Pixies - Bossanova 2. They each released self-titled records at least 5 albums into their careers. 3. They've all had members whose last names were colors. Not necessarily essential members, in the case of Genesis, but the other two have founding members with names like this (Frank Black and Peter Green). 4. Each band had a founding member leave or break up the band. That's all I've got... Edited September 2, 2005 by Guest
Earth-Angel Posted September 2, 2005 Report Posted September 2, 2005 (edited) Nice try Laurie, you are on the right track...but not what I was thinking of. Daslied takes the cake with answer 1! The Pixies, Genesis and Fleetwood Mac did indeed all have albums named after dance styles! Daslied, sing your song! Edited September 2, 2005 by Guest
daslied Posted September 2, 2005 Report Posted September 2, 2005 Awesome. Am I supposed to pose a question now? I think I screwed up in the "Above, Below..." thread, so I'm being more careful now.
Tenacious_Peaches Posted September 2, 2005 Report Posted September 2, 2005 Pose away, sugar. The question should be hard enough to make us think, but not so hard that our brain leaks out of ears. Bazooka's got the corner on those types of questions. And you didn't screw up the other thread. I knew what you meant.
daslied Posted September 2, 2005 Report Posted September 2, 2005 Thanks, Peaches! Now I have to go chug a salt packet. OK, what do Stephen Stills and Harry Nilsson have in common - related to television? (Because, you know, that post was so sweet.)
Tenacious_Peaches Posted September 2, 2005 Report Posted September 2, 2005 They both tried out for the Monkees. And you had me at Pork-A-Que. I'll have to think of one. I'll get back to you.
daslied Posted September 2, 2005 Report Posted September 2, 2005 Well that was quick... I guess it was too easy. Or you're an enormous geek as well.
Tenacious_Peaches Posted September 2, 2005 Report Posted September 2, 2005 It's definitely the latter. But we prefer to be called dorks around here, thank you very much. "Foolin'" "Don't Forget Me (When I'm Gone)" "Wait"
daslied Posted September 2, 2005 Report Posted September 2, 2005 All by bands named after large cats (Def Leppard, Glass Tiger, White Lion). I'll post one after lunch, though someone can certainly take my turn.
Tenacious_Peaches Posted September 2, 2005 Report Posted September 2, 2005 Geez, Marc, thanks...you've put the kibosh on it now. I don't work well under pressure.
MarcM Posted September 2, 2005 Report Posted September 2, 2005 Take your time, Peachy! I got all day. I trust you to come up with something spectacularly geekalicious!
Tenacious_Peaches Posted September 2, 2005 Report Posted September 2, 2005 It's not my turn to geek, Marc. Patience, grasshopper.
daslied Posted September 2, 2005 Report Posted September 2, 2005 OK, I' kind of mailing this one in... Nina Simone Jim Morrison Screamin' Jay Hawkins
Tenacious_Peaches Posted September 2, 2005 Report Posted September 2, 2005 I know it, but I'll let somebody else have it. I'll be leaving shortly for the next four days and I don't want to tie anybody up.
daslied Posted September 2, 2005 Report Posted September 2, 2005 Enjoy the long weekend, Peaches, and we'll have a geek-off another day.
Tenacious_Peaches Posted September 2, 2005 Report Posted September 2, 2005 Thanks, daslied. You have been a worthy advisary. Maybe I'll take you out to breakfast one day. I've been dying for some French toast.
_Laurie_ Posted September 2, 2005 Report Posted September 2, 2005 OK, I' kind of mailing this one in... Nina Simone Jim Morrison Screamin' Jay Hawkins Did they all die in France?
daslied Posted September 2, 2005 Report Posted September 2, 2005 They most certainly did. I was gonna pick Paris, as it's way more of a romantic notion, but Robert Palmer would've given it away too easily. Peaches, nice. Real nice.
_Laurie_ Posted September 2, 2005 Report Posted September 2, 2005 ok here's an odd combination DJ jazzy jeff and the fresh prince janis joplin billy stewart
Earth-Angel Posted September 2, 2005 Report Posted September 2, 2005 They most certainly did. I was gonna pick Paris, as it's way more of a romantic notion, but Robert Palmer would've given it away too easily. Peaches, nice. Real nice. Robert Palmer's dead?!
daslied Posted September 2, 2005 Report Posted September 2, 2005 (edited) Laurie - they all have songs called "Summertime". Janis' and Billy's were versions of the Gershwin tune, and DJJ & TFP's was based on Kool & The Gang. Different strokes, I guess.. Earth Angel - yeah, you didn't hear that? It was in December of last year, I think. Edited September 2, 2005 by Guest Little spelling mishap
