SoulGirl Posted January 30, 2005 Report Posted January 30, 2005 I don't expect he'll just lie back and take it. i certainly hope not!
Uncle Joe Posted January 30, 2005 Report Posted January 30, 2005 Seems Like Old Times from Annie Hall (Woody Allen)?
Addictedtoclassic Posted January 30, 2005 Report Posted January 30, 2005 I had so many problems getting onto the boards yesterday that I just gave up. And look how many questions I missed? Well, here's my guess for this one. "Nobody Does It Better" - Carly Simon
SoulGirl Posted January 30, 2005 Report Posted January 30, 2005 I'll be interested in jr's position on this ! beneath me of course
OLD 55 Posted January 30, 2005 Author Report Posted January 30, 2005 I GOT INTO THE SITE No one's got it yet, so let's rephrase the question to give you a couple more clues. QUESTION: A well known U.S. movie actor/director remembered a song that had been recorded (with no Chart success) some 3 years previously. He telephoned the singer for permission to use it in his movie, which she gave. The song became a huge hit after it's inclusion in the movie. WHAT was the song and WHO sang it ?
Uncle Joe Posted January 30, 2005 Report Posted January 30, 2005 Was this Gloria Gaynor's I Will Survive? "If life were fair, Elvis would be alive and all the impersonators would be dead." --Johnny Carson
edna Posted January 30, 2005 Report Posted January 30, 2005 Yes, Unky... and I think you are more than right... Dr. John had an accident with his hand and performed in "The last waltz", by Scorsese... only I don´t remember what was the song... I just checked my files... the song is "Such a night". And I saw he also played with Clapton and Jagger... I think you are the winner, Commendatore! Bazooka???
Uncle Joe Posted January 30, 2005 Report Posted January 30, 2005 edna, Baby...you are confusing the Who Am I thread with this one.
DiggsUK Posted January 30, 2005 Report Posted January 30, 2005 If it hasn't already been said, is it 'Car wash' by Rose Royce? Regards
Elvish Posted January 31, 2005 Report Posted January 31, 2005 Is it "Through the Eyes of Love" by Melissa Manchester?
OLD 55 Posted January 31, 2005 Author Report Posted January 31, 2005 Sorry, none of those. I also mentioned in other posts yesterday that it's a Love Song and it was a Huge U.S. Chart Hit in the 1970s.
DiggsUK Posted January 31, 2005 Report Posted January 31, 2005 'The Power of Love', by Huey L an't News? Regards
OLD 55 Posted January 31, 2005 Author Report Posted January 31, 2005 That Flashdance song. What a Feeling. 'The Power of Love', by Huey L an't News? They're both 1980s. It's 1970s.
OLD 55 Posted January 31, 2005 Author Report Posted January 31, 2005 QUESTION: A well known U.S. movie actor /director remembered a song that had been recorded (with no Chart success) some 3 years previously. He telephoned the singer for permission to use it in his movie, which she gave. The song became a huge hit after it's inclusion in the movie. WHAT was the song and WHO sang it ? I've highlighted a few words I think may help. Keep trying. It's a beautiful song.
_jr_ Posted January 31, 2005 Report Posted January 31, 2005 What's that Barbra Streisand movie? A Star is Born. The Way We Were That's my final answer.
OLD 55 Posted January 31, 2005 Author Report Posted January 31, 2005 Good try jr, but the Director wasn't a famous actor. A beautiful song though, which is more in keeping with the correct one. A bit earlier than 1976 too. C'mon, keep trying. You've got the 2 points so far. Hang on - the song from "A Star Is Born" is "Evergreen". "The Way We Were" was from the 1974 movie of the same name, also not directed by an Actor.
_jr_ Posted January 31, 2005 Report Posted January 31, 2005 Ok. Mahogany ~ Diana Ross That's my final answer
OLD 55 Posted January 31, 2005 Author Report Posted January 31, 2005 That's a good one too, but... I see it was directed by Berry Gordy. There's a good question. What do the founder of Motown records and jrownsdega have in common?
OLD 55 Posted January 31, 2005 Author Report Posted January 31, 2005 Was the movie a hit? YES HD. A very suspenseful movie also. (I'm going to lunch now. Back in about an hour to see who's solved it !). ::
