Levis
Much fun with punctuation to be had deciding whether or not to capitalise the 'p' and weighing the options when it came to placing the apostrophe. Before we get down to the nominations, a word from our... sponsor. We always suggest listening what the participant has to say because it makes a Personal Top Ten that little bit more personal when you know what the thought processes behind it are. Whew......all done! This was a very, very, VERY difficult list to make out. For starters, coming up with what I thought were the best 50 songs I've ever heard was no easy task. I've heard so many great songs in my life, I could have easily stretched this out to 100 if I wanted to. Two, keeping it to one entry per artist was damn near impossible, and I made some very tough cuts on what song to include and which ones to excise. Only one artist has a multiple entry and that's Frank Sinatra - I absolutely could not choose between the two; I'll leave that up to you. I split my focus into two groups: 1940s-1979 and 1980 to present. Most people here know where my tastes lie, but I wanted to make it so that people who maybe weren't fans of the earlier stuff would at least have a decent amount of songs to choose from the later music. The final tally is 28 songs from the first group and 22 from the second. If the song is a mix of some kind, I put it in italics after the name of the track. Some of the songs had better mixes than album versions, so I went with them instead. All links go back to Grooveshark unless otherwise noted. Enjoy, happy listening and happy voting!! :-D Alors, les NOMINATIONS 6 Underground - Sneaker Pimps (1996) #1 Crush (Nellie Hooper Remix) - Garbage (1995) Already Gone - Kelly Clarkson (2009) Always - Frank Sinatra (1946) At Last - Etta James (1961) Big Time Sensuality (Fluke Minimix) - Bjork (1993) Black Velvet - Alannah Myles (1990) Chains - Tina Arena (1996) Chances Are - Johnny Mathis (1957) Cradle of Love - Billy Idol (1990) Draggin' The Line - Tommy James (1971) Erase/Rewind - The Cardigans (1998) Everything Fades Away - Mariah Carey (1993) Get Together - The Youngbloods (1969) Gimme Shelter - The Rolling Stones (1969) Great Pretender, The - The Platters (1956) Halo - The Pussycat Dolls (2008) Heart of Glass (12'' Disco Mix) - Blondie (1979) Hush - Deep Purple (1968) I'll Be Around - The Spinners (1972) I'm On Fire - Bruce Springsteen (1984) In Paradisum - Sarah Brightman (1998) Into The Night - Benny Mardones (1980) I Shall Be Released - Joe Cocker (1969) Just For Old Time's Sake - The McGuire Sisters (1961) {YouTube link} Kisses Sweeter Than Wine - Jimmie Rodgers (1958) Love, You Didn't Do Right By Me - Rosemary Clooney (1954) {YouTube link} Moon River - Henry Mancini (1960) More Than A Woman - The Bee Gees (1977) On An Island - David Gilmour (2006) Over You - Gary Puckett & The Union Gap (1968) Personal Jesus - Depeche Mode (1989) Rain - Madonna (1992) Rock Your Baby - George McRae (1974) Scientist, The - Coldplay (2003) Seven Whole Days - Toni Braxton (1993) Someone To Watch Over Me - Frank Sinatra (1954) Squeeze Me - Kraak & Smaak (2008) Strict Machine - Goldfrapp (2003) Tainted Love/Where Did Our Love Go? Us and Them - Pink Floyd (1973) 5. Rain - Madonna (1992) 6. Heart of Glass (12'' Disco Mix) - Blondie (1979) 7. I'm On Fire - Bruce Springsteen (1984) 8. Black Velvet - Alannah Myles (1990) 9. Stones could've gotten a higher vote from me, but they WILL be #1 without needing my support.
Tenacious_Peaches
Spectacular. I am tickled to see my beloved Benny Mardones on the list.
pinkstones
In a way, I hope the Stones AREN'T #1. They'd be #1 on any Top 10 we do, and I'd love to see some other songs that would never get on a TT otherwise make it this time. But that's just me and and I'm at everyone's mercy. And you better believe I'd have Into The Night on there!

Uncle Joe
Now that's what I call an eclectic list. This is going to be fun. I'm old and yet there are songs on this list that my mom 'n dad loved. What to do? Should I vote an eclectic mix or should I go with the old familiars? Hmmmmmm............. pinkstones
Only one Floyd song, I'm disappointed I said up top that I made a very conscious decision to make it one song per artist as to not have any one band/artist dominate. I could have easily had 20 of the 50 songs be by Pink Floyd, but that wouldn't be fair to people who don't like them. The same as I tried to make it so there was close to half be songs from the last 30 years so that members here who don't care for the older stuff would have something to make up their lists. I'm sorry to have disappointed you, but I wasn't going to telegraph my list, as it were.

pinkstones
I was being sarcastic, your list is fine the way it is. Whew. I'm being honest though, I took this seriously and wanted to show the members here that I have more diverse music tastes than they think. I'm always worried that I get typecast as the "oldies/classic rock chick" when really, I'm a lot more than that.

OLD 55
What a great selection Pink. I don't want to offend anybody, but most of these appeal to me much more than the regular weekly Top Tens nominations, where I'd struggle to find ten I like enough to vote for. Now I have to eliminate a dozen or so. 1. Great Pretender, The - The Platters (1956) 2. Into The Night - Benny Mardones (1980) 3. Heart of Glass (12'' Disco Mix) - Blondie (1979) 4. You Are Everything - The Stylistics (1971) 5. Chances Are - Johnny Mathis (1957) 6. Black Velvet - Alannah Myles (1990) 7. Hush - Deep Purple (1968) 8. Touch Me - The Doors (1968) 9. Gimme Shelter - The Rolling Stones (1969) 10.Rock Your Baby - George McRae (1974) I would've put the original version of 'Tainted Love' high. I've tried to get that into the Ten a few times. And it's still not there. I just checked.
