BlueAngel Posted February 23, 2010 Report Posted February 23, 2010 In a similar vein but a good century ahead.
CanAm Posted February 25, 2010 Report Posted February 25, 2010 (edited) This composer created one of my favourite orchestral pieces. Edited February 25, 2010 by Guest
Otokichi Posted February 25, 2010 Report Posted February 25, 2010 (edited) Sorry, wrong century. That's Gustav Holst, composer of "The Planets," among numerous "small" works of the 1910s. I haven't figured out the photo-remote-hosting dance, so someone else can post a picture. Unexpected small treasures: Suite #1 and #2, usually played by wind ensembles. edna Posted February 26, 2010 Report Posted February 26, 2010 absolutely correct Edna ...not really, the band's name is Pantera and not Panthera, as Rockyraccon pointed... OK, I'll try to post something providing my old '01 mac allows me...
bazooka Posted March 3, 2010 Report Posted March 3, 2010 He's been dead for more than 30 years. His compositions are 'covered' in an unconventional tribute album from the early 90s that involved Charlie Watts, Keith Richards, Elvis Costello, Ray Davies, Robbie Robertson, Dr. John and other artists in diverse styles. I hope that helps.
MindCrime Posted March 3, 2010 Report Posted March 3, 2010 bebop jazz musician Charlie Mingus hint: he performed 2 big hits in the 70's. One with a one hit wonder band and the other as a solo artist.
