TheLizard
We've made a list of those who can't exactly call themselves technically great singers, so what about those who are technically great singers, but still suck? Steel2Velvet
I always thought Peter Noone of Herman's Hermits had a decent voice but seemed to always make lousy choices of what songs to record or the way to project meaning.
Tony Baloni
I'm probably not gonna make a ton of friends saying this, but I think a lot of times Jim Morrison's voice could be pretty plain and generic. Not all of the time, mind you, but sometimes he just sounds bland to me. Let the crucifiction begin.
Shawna
Celine Dion Christina Aguilera To this list I'd like to add Barbra Streisand. She's got a great voice, but she overdoes everything. A lot. To the point where I can't stand to listen.

johnnyguitar
Me too. It's one thing having a three...or is it four? octave voice...maybe even five...I dunno, but don't demonstrate it every time...less is definitely more sometimes and more is always less when it comes to vocal pyrotechnics. Whitney does it too.... Just sing the sodding song, why don't they?

Foolonthehill
Yeah, especially when they start to have fun with the tempo and everyone gets lost. But I've never liked "Oh Canada" much anyways.

Yeah I'm not a huge fan of Star Spangled Banner. I think Stephen Colbert needs to write us a new national anthem.

Otokichi
If the notes are too high or the verses too hard to remember, you can always sing along with Ray Charles. ("America The Beautiful" can be sung by almost any XY sort.)
ms evilbad
Bon Scott sounds like Donald Duck in some songs. Heart does an awful lot of whining. They become hard to listen to!
Heard It On The XM
Joe Jackson, especially his more recent material. In the peak years of his career (late '70s/early-mid '80s) Jackson had a distinctive baritone, but as he got older his singing voice grew harsher and higher in pitch. On his 2003 "comeback" album Volume 4, I could barely recognize the man - it was as though some other guy was singing a bunch of songs that Jackson wrote (thankfully his songwriting was still recognizable and sharp as ever). The Seeker
I really don't like what Steve Marriott did with his voice later on. He had such a great voice, but from the 70s on it steadily got worse He really overdid it... on a lot of Humble Songs he's just whining and wailing. With the Small Faces and very early Pie he was great though.
Rayzor
Someone wrote that Bon Scott sounds like donald duck... he isn't someone blessed with a great voice, he belongs in the other thread. Awful voice, great band and music selection to cover it up
Viaene
Someone wrote that Sting sounded like a leaking balloon...If you think about it the mas wasn't completely wrong. But that might be because I'm no Sting-fan.
