1. Live Forever - Oasis (1994)

Maybe I just want to fly

Want to live, I don't want to die

Maybe I just want to breathe

Maybe I just don't believe

Maybe you're the same as me

We see things they'll never see

You and I are gonna live forever

just like Layla, Samba Pa Ti is just another commercial jingle for me  :P

Actually I don't think that "Samba Pa Ti" is a terribly commercial release at all. Maybe in Europe? For Santana, his equivalent to Layla (at least here) would probably "Oye Como Va" or "Black Magic Woman". A couple of my least favorite Santana songs. :P

Tim, like I said before, I can't figure out why I didn't know Budgie before. That was the kind of music I listened to at that time, and I listened to a lot of music. Oh well, I heard, I liked it, and I voted for it! ;)

"Layla" a commercial jingle? :P :P :P Well, maybe now it is, after it´s been used as a soundtrack everywhere for everything... you might be fed up with it. But it surely was an amazing song back in the early seventies (and probably still is, though I´ve heard it so much myself too... )

"Samba Pa Ti" is the beginning of what they called "fusion". Not my favorite style but I still admit it changed trends in music...

But I know what you mean, "La Bamba", for instance, is a song I hate and I always did, it was already overheard when I was a child. Sorry, Lucky ;)

I think more like here in Germany... I'm not really sure, but I think it was some kind of cheese that used it extensively in their tv commercials...

everytime I hear the riff I expect some deep male voice to say "hmmmmmm, that tastes good" :P :wacky:

no it was used as the main jingle for Opel (Vauxhall in UK) in the late 80s to late 90s

everytime I hear Layla it IS an Opel commercial for me (I bet the advertisers are mighty proud of themselves now :P )

for both Layla and Samba Pa Ti I'm not saying that they're bad songs (which they aren't)... I just can't possibly enjoy them because of these associations, you know? :P
