Jillianne Posted July 7, 2004 Report Posted July 7, 2004 Have you heared of them? they're great, from dublin, and lived like 10 mins away from me, here is a listen clickety click they especially parisienne walkways
In heaven Posted July 7, 2004 Report Posted July 7, 2004 Best Thin Lizzy song is "Jail Break" the riff is so evil, I love it. They are a band that made some good songs but not one good record.
MindCrime Posted July 7, 2004 Report Posted July 7, 2004 These guys are listed amongst the top 100 classic rock bands, they had a lot of radio air time with a few of their songs (like They Boys are Back in Town, Bad Reputation, & Jailbreak) They're a good band, even though I always thought of the late Phil Lynott as kind of a Jimi wannabee, but maybe not.
In heaven Posted July 7, 2004 Report Posted July 7, 2004 But hey played bass. Lenny Kravitz and him have more in common both are a mixture of Irish and African
TheCyberdemon Posted July 8, 2004 Report Posted July 8, 2004 But hey played bass. What's wrong with trying to do to the bass guitar what Jimmy did to the electric? My friend practises the bass at least 2-3 hours aday and needless to say, he's getting really good.
Batman Posted July 8, 2004 Report Posted July 8, 2004 I don't know if Thin Lizzy should be in the "get the word out" section, but hey, there a good band!
audioslave Posted August 1, 2004 Report Posted August 1, 2004 I don't know if Thin Lizzy should be in the "get the word out" section, but hey, there a good band! You're right Batman - but I've seen Stevie Ray Vaughn in this section - and I guess he was new to me way back sometime - I'm gonna recommend Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd too.
MuzikTyme Posted August 1, 2004 Report Posted August 1, 2004 I really liked Thin Lizzy. My favourite album by them is Jailbreak. There is this one song on it, Emerald, that had one of the best dual lead solos I've ever heard. Jailbreak to Thin Lizzy is like Rumours is to Fleetwood Mac. Songs like Boys are Back in Town, Warriors and the title cut make this album one of the best. Don't forget Emerald, their best IMO. Great song and album. Every hard rock fan should have it in their collection.
sutho Posted August 11, 2004 Report Posted August 11, 2004 :afro:I love the Bass line in the song "Dancing in the Mooonlight" it's one of the coolest Bass Lines ever ... There's a thought
miamisammy29 Posted August 12, 2004 Report Posted August 12, 2004 "I am just a cowboy, lonsesome on the trail. Lord, I'm just thinking about a certain female. The nights we spent together, riding on the range. Looking back now, it seems so strange." "Cowboy Song" --- what a wicked tune, man.
_jr_ Posted August 15, 2004 Report Posted August 15, 2004 I really liked Thin Lizzy. My favourite album by them is Jailbreak. Every hard rock fan should have it in their collection. Emerald is top notch. i still have a Thin Lizzy tour t-shirt from when I saw them in 83 at the very first Monsters of Rock festival over in Germany. They were third out of 8 or 9 bands, and blew them all away. I've been a fan ever since. Muzik, if you enjoy Emerald's lead solo, you should check out Massacre. :guitar:
SoulGirl Posted October 17, 2004 Report Posted October 17, 2004 Thin Lizzy rock! definitely don't belong in the get the word out section, more like the legends section. i love jailbreak, chinatown, i'm the rocker, dancing in the moonlight, don't believe a word, loads really!
EagleEye0 Posted September 10, 2005 Report Posted September 10, 2005 "Romeo and the Lonely Girl," best track on the album. I have the album and overall, its think lizzy's masterpiece. Stunning.
Batman Posted September 10, 2005 Report Posted September 10, 2005 I really like the second song on Jailbreak. Is it called "Angel of the Coast" or something along those lines?
bluezman Posted September 12, 2005 Report Posted September 12, 2005 Top band, I grew up listen to these guys. I turneddown the chance of seeing them on the last tour they did, I was 15 and my parents wouldn`t let me go with a mate - my gran offered to take me and I said no way like a typical teenager!! Man do I kick myself for that... My fav song is - "Dancing in the Mooonlight" I agree with Sutho fantasic bass line and I love the sax solo in it.
