I have them plugged into the headphone jack on the front of the computer, and all I get is static - and even that sound is very low. However, I can play all my sound files through the speakers just fine. Is there a control somewhere I have to click in order to make the sound come out of the earphones instead of the speakers? the're brand new ear-bud types, so they should be up to date with the latest and greatest. skybluesky Posted September 26, 2009 Report Share Posted September 26, 2009 Shawna, there should be a plug in on your disk drive (if you have a desk top), but I think headphones only work if you are listening to a CD in the disc drive. _Laurie_ Posted September 26, 2009 Report Share Posted September 26, 2009 Shannon...we have a yellow lab at the house that I work at...when it was a puppy it use to do that...If you are able to catch him going...then immediately afterwards tell him a firm NO...you are not suppose to rub it's nose in it according to the trainer we had...the dog doesn't understand why you are doing that....some before hand tips are to take it outside frequently to the same spot everyday...this is where he is suppose to go do his business....it takes some time..but if you're consistent he will eventually learn to go out...or let you know he wants to go out. The headphone jack works with all audio coming from the computer (playing a CD, listening to youtube, listening to an mp3 file on your default audio player, etc. etc.), so if you're playing something through your computer speakers and you plug your headphones into the headphone jack, they should work. After plugging in your headphones: Try pulling the headphone plug out of the headphone jack just slightly, in case it's not connecting properly. (That's what I have to do with mine. When plugged in all the way, the volume is low and only one channel plays. When backed out slightly, the volume is high and both channels play.) Also, right click on the speaker icon in the lower right corner of your taskbar. Click "Open Volume Control" and make sure all volume controls are set on high. Close the box and right click the speaker icon again. Click "Adjust Audio Properties" and check to see if the "Device Volume" is set on high. Below that, under speaker setings, is a "Speaker Volume" tab. Click that and be sure both left and right channels are set on high. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

My mom has tried the nose rubbing and the nose rubbing with tabasco sauce added. He goes outside too ; they have a doggie door so he knows where to go. Thanks for taking the time to address my issue, Shannon! I heart you. I was able to get in touch with the support group at the company whose software I'm using with the headphones, and they advised me to get headphones with a USB so their software can read the driver and integrate it with the options. Another thing on my "to do" list. Now, here is what I have learned about puppies and potty-training: Laurie is absolutely right about the nose-rubbing thing. It only confuses them. Laurie is also dead-on with being consistent on taking the puppy and plunking him down where you want him to do his business - this can be outside or even in a litter box indoors - but consistency is key. Be sure and take him outside every morning, and every night, and wait until he goes before letting him back in. Then he'll learn when he'll be able to relieve himself and will learn to wait, or signal to go out. Also, reward him with a treat (doggie biscuit) when he "goes" outside, and he will begin very quickly to associate treats and praise with going outside to piddle. Lots of info for someone who has never raised a pup, huh? She's placed pads around the house and he would go on them, but once she took them away... This seems to be intermittent. He'll stop for a while, but for some reason he starts again. Believe it or not they will act out like that to show they are not happy at you. We've had many a dog show their displeasure at us by doing something like that. I guess I can understand what he meant but my question is, could the girls understand it? Couldn't he just read a porn magazine? Did he have to try with human beings?
