OLD 55
Hi Connor ! I hope nobody thinks I'm trying to canvass votes for it - I was really lamenting that younger people wouldn't know it, but I'd completely forgotten about it being used in "Top Gun". I'm really glad you and your friends enjoy the song.
c_s_1987
There are five Led Zep songs in this Round alone? Which maniac nominated them that often? I believe they were all nominated by different people, although I am not ashamed to admit that I recently got my second Zep top tenner. I will continue to nominate them, because they deserve it. c_s_1987
This is the toughest one yet for me because I believe this round collectively has the Best songs so far. My #1 was easy. I think it's the greatest song of the 'Rock Era'. What a shame that so many of you younger people may not even know it know it, because it probably doesn't make the FM playlists you hear. It's in the Guinness Book Of Records for the greatest number of airplays in the U.S., but that's probably mostly AM. Although I have heard parts of it and I can remember what it sounds like, I am pretty certain I have never heard all of "You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin'". I am certainly quite disappointed that although my favourite radio station plays many sixties classics in their "Greatest Songs Of All Time" countdowns, they never play that one. I will continue to nominate them, because they deserve it. I'm just saying...because I don't know how you put the songs together for those rounds here, but I thought that you kind of split them up, so I understood that there's not each and every Zeppelin song nominated in this round. And that would mean that there's even more in the other rounds, which would add up to quite a big amount of Led Zeppelin nominated in total. Ok, this sounds complicated. It just seems to me that lots of their songs were nominated.

There is actually acomplex and very fair system with which Chris put the preliminary round together... but you are right about the quantity of nominatioins: Led Zeppelin was nominated 16 times (including renominations) in 30 Top Tens. And they were/are 10 times in the Top Ten... (btw they "only" got one #1, Black Dog)
The Seeker
Thanks. Yeah, so that seems like quite a big amount to me. The only song of theirs I voted for is Kashmir.
Farin
yes, it is... I think the only band with more nominations are The Beatles... and there are quite a lot songs in the Top Tens that I didn't vote for...
c_s_1987
Yeah, the distribution of bands/artists is pretty completely random, and any time an unusually large number appear in the same list, it is a coincidence. I have noticed there are a few bands/artists that have only appeared twice in our top tens, yet both their songs are in the same group, like Derek And The Dominoes in this group. The fact that a few fifties and sixties pop and soul classics missed out by a narrow margin is probably a sign that they don't get played on the radio often enough.
