Kevin
"Mother , do you think they'll try to tear your little boy apart ? ... Hush , now , baby , baby , don't you cry ... Mother will check out all your girlfriends for you ...she won't let you fly , but she might let you sing ... " -Mother / Pink Floyd Seems to sum up Lennon/Ono for me ...Oh heck , here is all of it to reference : Mother Pink Floyd (The Wall) Mother, do you think they'll drop the bomb? Mother, do you think they'll like this song? Mother, do you think they'll try to break my balls? Ooooowaa Mother, should I build a wall? Mother, should I run for President? Mother, should I trust the government? Mother, will they put me in the firing line? Ooooowaa Is it just a waste of time? Hush, my baby. Baby, don't you cry. Momma's gonna make all of your nightmares come true. Momma's gonna put all of her fears into you. Momma's gonna keep you right here under her wing. She won't let you fly, but she might let you sing. Momma's gonna keep Baby cozy and warm. Oooo Babe. Oooo Babe. Ooo Babe, of course Momma's gonna help build a wall. Mother, do you think she's good enough, For me? Mother, do you think she's dangerous, To me? Mother will she tear your little boy apart? Ooooowaa Mother, will she break my heart? Hush, my baby. Baby, don't you cry. Momma's gonna check out all your girlfriends for you. Momma won't let anyone dirty get through. Momma's gonna wait up until you get in. Momma will always find out where you've been. Momma's gonna keep Baby healthy and clean. Oooo Babe. Oooo Babe. Ooo Babe, you'll always be Baby to me. Mother, did it need to be so high? The Seeker
I certainly do. By the way, have you ever read The Last days of John Lennon by Frederic Seaman?
Kevin
No . I haven't read any books about Lennon , but I've watched a number of documentaries - which don't probe very deep ,usually . Do you recommend it ?
The Seeker
Yes, it's very interesting, Seaman was Lennon's personal assisstant or something like that during the last two years of his life, went on holidays with him and all that. Gives you insight on John and Yoko's (in my eyes, rather strange) relationship, too.
edna
Didn´t Yoko Ono sue him for stealing Lennon´s letters and pictures?

Kevin
I wouldn't be surprised . She generally sued or attacked in some way everyone that was close to them -he was HER man , afterall . I don't mean to imply a purely Oedipus complex . either , but Yoko nurtured , protected , adored and slowly weeded her way into dominating his fragile psyche , I think - and he liked it ( though he rebelled a bit - he always came back and asked for another round -the effect of old British schooling on some , perhaps - a bit of psychological S and M ) . DiggsUK
What are you saying about or glorious school system, envy of the world and producer of some of the finest brains this planet has ever known? Tenacious_Peaches
Diggs! Remember the infamous butt plug conversation from the days of Songfacts gone by? Before I was a respectable moderator? Back to the topic, I've always had a thing for Joe Mantegna. He talks like he's got his tongue stuck to the roof of his mouth. For some reason that drives me wild.

Tybalt
I've always had a thing for Joe Mantegna. He talks like he's got his tongue stuck to the roof of his mouth. For some reason that drives me wild. Joe Mantegna is also a virtuoso at the delivery of "Mametspeak", that unnatural dialogue created by writer/director David Mamet. See House of Games (1987). MindCrime
Any votes for Cybil Shepherd, all you lovers of the mature form? Moonlighting? Am I on the right track, if memory serves... What was Bruce Willis thinking playing that show, followed by his music video debut, before he finally settled down with the Die Hard trio.
