Batman Posted July 12, 2006 Report Posted July 12, 2006 Since we've already got a thread for living songwriters. I think the best dead songwriter is Nick Drake.
TheLizard Posted July 12, 2006 Report Posted July 12, 2006 John Lennon, Jim Morrison, Jimi Hendrix, and now Syd Barrett.
Sweet Jane 61 Posted July 12, 2006 Report Posted July 12, 2006 (edited) Agree with all of the above and want to add.... Jim Croce, Johnny Cash, Jerry Garcia, Joey Ramone, and Duane Allman .....these are ones I think were top songwriters. need to add Harry Chapin...can't believe I forgot him... Steel2Velvet Posted July 12, 2006 Report Posted July 12, 2006 I suppose Woody Guthrie, Roy Orbison, Duke Ellington, Ray Charles and Buddy Hollie would all have to have a place at that table.
TheLizard Posted July 12, 2006 Report Posted July 12, 2006 someone said keith richards....um he isnt dead... I believe that was a joke. He is pretty much a zombie. A brilliant zombie, but a zombie.
