I contribute to a radio program as a hobby - unpaid, but they give me some Movie tickets occasionally - and I'm working on a Topic at the moment of "Multilingual Songs", i.e. those with a mixture of English and another language. The station is Middle of the Road AM, and have a playlist of 60s,70s,80s, some early 90s. * Songs like "99 Luftballoons" and "La Bamba" don't qualify, because they're completely in languages other than English. Neither do ones where the title is the only overseas words repeated, e.g. "Paloma Blanca" and "(Si Si) Je Suis Un Rock Star". * Here's what I have so far. Can anyone help me with some more please ???

Wooden Heart - Elvis Presley - German/English

La Isla Bonita - Madonna - Spanish/E

Before The Next Teardrop Falls - Freddie Fender - Spanish/E

Diamonds On The Soles Of HerShoes - Paul Simon - Afrikaans/E

Iko Iko - Belle Stars - Afrikaans/E

Ma Belle Ami - Tee Set - French/E

Michelle - Beatles - French/E

Hold On Tight - E L O - French/E

Look What They've Done To My Song - New Seekers - French/E

Lady Marmalade - Labelle - French/E

Good Luck. It's harder than you think!

Smoke City sing in English and I believe it's Portuguese. Underwater Love is a particularly good single of theirs (it was used on the 'mermaid' Levi's commercial.) I also Know Nelly Furtado sings in both English and Portuguese on alot of her tracks, so try her debut album Whoa! Nelly.

"Psychokiller" (Talking Heads) He sings in french. ce que j´ai fait ce soir la, ce qu´elle a dit ce soir la, realisant mon espoir, je me lance vers la gloire... (at least that´s what I read)

"DenisDenis" (Blondie) Also sings in french.

"Spanish Stroll", Mink de Ville "Hey Rosita, usted robó mi carro...etc"...

Look for the complete lyrics, Google has them.

"Sailor" by Lolita is in German with some spoken English.

"Games without Frontiers" by Peter Gabriel has its title sung in French (which sounds like "she's so popular" to me)

"Sun King" by the Beatles has some Italian in it.

It´s not italian, Crazy Don, it´s mix of sounds which include some italian and spanish sound-like words, and even some liverpudian slang... I think the only actual italian line is "mi amore"... I read it somewhere in an interview in the web...

Stevie Wonder's "Don't You Worry 'Bout A Thing" opens with Stevie having a dialog with a girl and he throws some Spanish at her. It occurs again later in the song, too.

A great song by the way.

There's some Italian mixed with English in Bobby Rydell's "Volare".

Dionne Warwick's "Water To Drink" (Agua de Beber) features English and Portuguese.

"Harley David(son Of A Bitch)" by The Bollock Brothers has a couple of French lines ::

Anyone remember late 80s/early 90s rapper, Mellow Man Ace. A lot of his tunes were sung in Spanglish ::

A lot of Stratovarius songs have Finnish stuck in at certain points (as they are a Finnish band)... the one that comes to mind is the live version of "Hunting High and Low" I think... where, right in the middle, the singer, Timo Kotipelto, starts gibbering away in Finnish. What he's saying I have no idea.

You're doing great so far! Thanks for your efforts. This AM station is so M.O.R. that they usually only play chart hits and some well known album tracks of the 60s, 70s, 80s. Let me have them all though please - it's very interesting. The ones I've added to my list so far are "Denis" (Blondie), "Jennifer Juniper" (Donovan) and maybe "Eyes Without A Face" (Billy Idol). I know they won't play "Girl From Ipanema" - a classic song, one of my favourites - but too easy listening for them, or anything by the Clash, too heavy. "Volare" only has a couple of Italian words, as the single version released in Australia doesn't have the Italian lines at the end. And "Sun King" ? We could start a new thread on that. There ARE some genuine non English words and I suspect also some gobbledydook. Thanks again and MORE SONGS PLEASE !

Here comes the sun king

Here comes the sun king

Everybody's laughing

Everybody's happy

Here comes the sun king

Quando paramucho mi amore de felice carathon

Mundo paparazzi mi amore cicce verdi parasol

Questo abrigado tantamucho que canite carousel

You´re welcome! As for the "Sun King" lyrics, it´s not italian (except "mi amore", "paprazzi" or "questo/quando") Am I right, UncleJoe???. "Cicce verdi" is the phoneticall translation of some expression from Liverpool, the rest is a mix of sounds. I wish I could find the lines where John Lennon explains this, but I can´t find the book...

Don´t forget "Psychokiller" (T. Heads)

"Psycho Killer"

I can't seem to face up to the facts

I'm tense and nervous and I

Can't relax

I can't sleep 'cause my bed's on fire

Don't touch me I'm a real live wire

Psycho Killer

Qu'est-ce que c'est

fa fa fa fa fa fa fa fa fa far better

Run run run run run run run away

Psycho Killer

Qu'est-ce que c'est

fa fa fa fa fa fa fa fa fa far better

Run run run run run run run away

You start a conversation you can't even finish it.

You're talkin' a lot, but you're not sayin' anything.

When I have nothing to say, my lips are sealed.

Say something once, why say it again?

Psycho Killer,

Qu'est-ce que c'est

fa fa fa fa fa fa fa fa fa far better

Run run run run run run run away

Psycho Killer

Qu'est-ce que c'est

fa fa fa fa fa fa fa fa fa far better

Run run run run run run run away

Ce que j'ai fais, ce soir la

Ce qu'elle a dit, ce soir la

Realisant mon espoir

Je me lance, vers la gloire ... OK

We are vain and we are blind

I hate people when they're not polite

Psycho Killer,

Qu'est-ce que c'est

fa fa fa fa fa fa fa fa fa far better

Run run run run run run run away

Psycho Killer,

Qu'est-ce que c'est

fa fa fa fa fa fa fa fa fa far better

Run run run run run run run away

oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh....

I was holding back because of timeline restraints, but since you say "let me have them all," I'll suggest the Los Lonely Boys' new self titled CD. Many of the songs have Spanish verses, and they're all very good.

in U2's new song, vertigo, Bono says "Catorce" for some reason, which is spanish for "14" :stars:

In the brilliant classic "Pretty Fly for a White Guy" the first words are "uno dos tres cuatro cinco cinco seis"
