vincegillstwin
I haven't nailed down who did it. It's about 6 minutes long and samples a lot of pop tunes. It starts out with some guy saying "This is a journey into sound" and then the beat starts. There's a line dance associated with it here on the east coast as well. vincegillstwin
You're in luck, I really don't want to clean the basement tonight. I wouldn't recommend downloading music, but if you do, preview each song fully. There are a lot of crappy or intentionally altered copies out there. Country Unless you have a two steppin crowd I would use the country sparingly. Pick the tunes with a heavy pop/dance beat (like Any Man Of Mine)It's too hard to do the stand around in a circle and beebop dance that most of us do. Brad Paisley - Ring on the finger I'm wrapped around Tracy Byrd - The truth about men Kentucky Headhunters - Oh Lonesome Me Mindy McReady - Guys Do It All The Time Garth Brooks - Ain't Goin' Down 'til The Sun Comes Up Alan Jackson - Chattahoochie Vince Gill - One More Last Chance George Strait - Love Without End Amen Garth Brooks - Longneck Bottle Travis Tritt - T.R.O.U.B.L.E. Hank Williams Jr. - Born To Boogie Randy Travis - Forever and Ever Amen Gretchen Wilson - Redneck Woman Gretchen Wilson - Here for the Party Irish Rovers - Wasn't that a party Tracy Byrd - Holdin' heaven Jamie O'Neal - When I think about angels Kenny Chesney - Fall in Love Big & Rich - Save a horse, Ride a cowboy David Allen Coe - You never even called me by my name (save for when everyone is too drunk to dance) Garth Brooks - Friends in low places (see above) Trick Pony - The Bride Kenny Chesney - She Thinks My Tractor's sexy Dixie Chicks - Goodbye Earl (lyrics aren't really wedding appropriate, but chix dig it anyway) Reba - You Keep me hangin' on Tracy Byd - Watermelon Crawl Terri Clark - Girls Lie too Confederate Railroad - Trashy Women Shania - Any Man Of Mine Dierks Bentley - What Was I Thinkin' 80's 2 in a room - Wiggle it AC/DC - Shook Me All Night Long Adam Ant - Goody Two Shoes A-ha - Take On Me Animotion - Obsession Bill Medley & Jennifer Warnes - (I've Had) The Time of My Life; Dirty Dancing soundtrack good tune to play last if you have a large group still there and want a memorable closing song B-52's - Love Shack Bangles - Walk Like an Egyptian Billy Idol - Dancing with myself; White Wedding; Mony Mony. 1st one is actually a better dance song, beware of the 8 minute versions of the 2nd that are floating around. Bobby Brown - My Prerogative Bruce Springsteen - Dancing in the dark Buster Poindexter - Hot, Hot, Hot. I put out a stack of sombrero's and maraca's and play this paired with Miami Sound Machine's Conga. The Bridesmaids will usually start the conga line snaking through the banquet room. Cameo - Word Up Cyndi Lauper - Girls Just Want To Have Fun Clarence Carter - Strokin' Clash -- Should I stay or should I go Dead or alive - You spin me 'round Dexy's Midnight Runner's - Come On Eileen Duran Duran - Hungry Like The Wolf, Rio Expose - Come go with me, Point of no return George Michael - Faith, I want your sex Georgia Satellites - Keep Your Hands To Yourself Go Go's - Our Lips Are Sealed, We Got The Beat, Vacation Human League - Don't you want me baby Janet Jackson - Nasty Jermaine Stewart - We Don't Have to take our clothes off Jets - Crush On You John Cafferty - On The Dark Side (slow start) Katrina and the Waves - Walkin on sunshine Kenny Loggins - Footloose Kiss - Lick It Up Knack - My Sharona Kool & The Gang - Celebration Locomotion - Kylie Minogue or Grand Funk Madonna - Holiday, Vogue, Get Into the groove, Lucky Star, Like A Virgin, Borderline, Papa don't Preach, Material Girl Michael Jackson - Beat it, You Want To Be Startin' Somethin, Billie Jean Modern English - Melt with you Morris Day - Jungle Love New Order - Bizarre Love Triangle Paul Lekakis - Boom, boom, boom let's go back to my room Pet Shop Boys - It's a sin Power Station - Some Like It Hot Prince - Let's go crazy (slo intro), 1999 Ramones - I wanna be sedated REM - It's The end of the world as we know it Rob Base - it Takes Two, Joy & Pain Salt n Pepa - Push It Shannon - Let the Music Play Sheena Easton - Strut Sheila E - The Glamorous Life Sly Fox - Let's Go all the way Starpoint - Object of my desire Sugarhill Gang - Rapper's Delight Teena Marie - Lovergirl Timex Social Club - Rumours Tommy Tutone - 867-5309 (Jenny) Tone Loc - Wild Thing, Funky Cold Medina Toni Basil - Mickey Violent Femmes - Big Hands Wang Chung - Everybody Wang Chung Wham - Wake Me Up Before You Go-go Young MC - Bust A Move ZZ Top - Sharp Dressed man 90's 2 unlimited - get ready for this, twilight zone 69 Boyz - Tootsie Roll Aqua - barbie Girl Bel Biv Devoe - Poison, Do Me Black Box - Everybody, everybody; Strike it up Black Crowes - Hard to handle Bloodhound Gang - Bad Touch (Discovery Channel Song) Brian Setzer - Jump, Jive and wail Blues Traveller - Runaround C&C Music Factory - Gonna Make You Sweat Cher - Believe Corona - Rhythm of the night Dead Milkmen - Punk Rock Girl Dee-Lite - Groove is in the heart Digital Underground - Humpty Dance Divinyls - I Touch Myself EMF - Unbelievable EU - Da Butt Green Day - Basket Case Haddaway - What Is Love Ini Kamoze - Hotstepper Johnny Gill - Rub you the right way Kid Rock - Cowboy LaBouche - Sweet Dreams, Be My Lover, Falling in love LeClick - Don't go, Tonight is the night London Beat - i've Been thinkin' about you Lou Bega - mambo #5, Tricky tricky M.A.R.R.S. - Pump up the volume Marky Mark - Good Vibrations Naughty By Nature - OPP No Mercy - Please Don't go, Where do you go Paula Abdul - Straight up Quad City DJ's - C'mon Everybody ride it (The Train) Real McCoy - Another Night, Come and Get your love (Match.com tv commercial), Run Away Right Said Fred - I'm Too Sexy Santana - Smooth Snap - The Power Sophie B Hawkins - Damn, I wish I was your lover Tag Team - Whoomp! Addictedtoclassic
Shout - Otis Day and the Knights version from Animal House Sweet Home Alabama - Skynyrd Sam And Dave - Soul Man You know, I am a diehard Skynyrd fan, but you can't dance to Skynyrd. And those that do are either on crack or tripping on acid. Skynyrd is not for dancing, it's for rocking out to. Playing the air guitar and singing along to the songs. That would be like dancing to a Pink Floyd song, it just doesn't happen.

katie_sane
I was wondering what the married people on songfacts chose musically for their wedding, be it for the bride and groom's dance or general musical entertainment. :happybanana:

Adrian22
"Throw Your Arms Around Me" (the Hunters and Collectors song, redone) was the wedding song chosen by the last couple I know to get married. (And Rolf Harris music is fun for all occasions! )
Jenny
Our wedding song was "Pride and Joy" by SRV, but the runners up were "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing" by Aerosmith and "I'll Stand by You" by the Pretenders. We had a live band and we asked for a variety of music, mostly classic rock. They played "Moondance" (at my insistence), "Brown Sugar", "Soul Man", some Beatles stuff, even some swing (it was '99 and swing all of a sudden was "hot" again)

SoulGirl
we're not officially engaged yet but my boy nd i have already decided on our first song - let's stay together by al green, and my best friend sarah is hopefully gonna sing it. i'm not getting married or at least another five years but i'm having fun thinking about it and making plans. one of the most exciting things we've already decided is that the invitations will state that if anyone would prefer, their gift to us could be a performance at the afters, be it a recitation, a song, a piece of music, anything. many of our friends are musicians or otherwise artistic people so i know already it will be amazing! sarah is going to be a 'musical bridesmaid', in charge or coordinating the whole thing. i wanna get married now!!! Tenacious_Peaches
Mairi, you are too funny. SoulSis...you know how I feel about Al Green. Good choice. I'll sing a song at your wedding, Gis. I can't sing worth a damn, but it will be very entertaining to say the least. Here is a link to a story I have told about my wedding song. SoulGirl
that's a great story about your wedding peaches! dunno if i could trust my mum to take care of the music, i'd care too much! but now that you've offered, you're not getting away with it - i refuse to get married unless you perform your famous rendition of r.e.s.p.e.c.t at the wedding!!!
