Mike
Now that I have the "sealed" envelopes to deliver tomorrow to the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood my guesses are Best Picture (25 points): 12 Years a Slave Best Actor (15 points): Leonardo DiCaprio (The Wolf of Wall Street) Best Actoress (15 points): Cate Blanchett Best Supporting Actor (10 points): Jared Leto (Dallas Buyers Club) Best Supporting Actress (10 points): Lupita Nyong'o (12 Years a Slave) Best Director (15 points): Gravity (Alfonso Cuarón) Best Original Score (15 points): Gravity (Steven Price) Best Original Song (25 points): "Let It Go" (Frozen) *Best Animated Feature - Frozen
Shawna
Best Picture (25 points): Captain Phillips (I doubt it'll win, but it's the one I liked the best out of the ones I've seen) Best Actor (15 points): Bruce Dern (Nebraska) (I think he'll get the sympathy vote) Best Actress (15 points): Cate Blanchett (Blue Jasmine) (She's just ridiculous in everything) Best Supporting Actor (10 points): Barkhad Abdi (Captain Phillips) (I would go with Jared Leto, because, again, I doubt this guy will win. But he was truly awesome.) Best Supporting Actress (10 points): Jennifer Lawrence (American Hustle) (She's the flavor of the generation. Plus, she's pretty cool, I like her a lot.) Best Director (15 points): 12 Years a Slave (Steve McQueen) (Don't think I'll ever watch this, because it's one of those movies that would probably haunt me for some weeks afterward... but from everything I've read about it, it's the One to Beat.) Best Original Score (15 points): Her (William Butler, Owen Pallett) (No idea, just think the storyline sounds interesting, so it's got to have interesting music, right?) Best Original Song (25 points): "Happy" (Despicable Me 2) (It makes me happy!) If I get even one right, I'll be doing better than I have for the last several years. Carl
Looked like the Oscar band screwed Idina Menzel by playing a strangely uptempo version of "Let It Go." Glad the song won, but she deserved better.
