cyberjudge
Does George Michael count as being in already? Careless Whisper is in, but that was with Wham!. Like a Prayer - Madonna (1989) All I Wanna Do - Sheryl Crow (1993) Noms subject to change. Please don't change them. They'll both get my support. edna
Ne me quitte pas - Jacques Brel (with english subtitles) Oh oh... although I don't like this song and the lyrics are humilliating and no person should ever dare to say those things... I will have to vote for it. It's Brel...
Lucky
Thanks Viaene, and edna (for making me pay attention), for a bit of education. I'd heard Brel's name before but really didn't know anything about him. There are a bit of scandalous circumstances about this song, and he's very interesting .... Viaene
I'm giving it another try to get a belgian artist in the top ten. I heard Brel is quite famous abroad, so I hope he gets some votes.
edna
Jacques Brel has amazing songs and is one of the best French* lyricists (?) or even poets of the last century. Terry Jacks' "Seasons in the Sun" is his English version of "Le Moribond". "If you go away" - Terry Jacks is actually "Ne Me Quitte Pas" . Bowie covered "Amsterdam" and "My Death". Other people such as Scott Walker or Marc Almond, among many others, have sung Brel's songs. * I mean, "in" French...
