cyberjudge
Sorry about being late with the week 27 "rap". Here's a link , so you don't have to flip thru the site to read it. And FYI O55, sorry you're sore about JA, but I'm just not crazy about that song. I seem to prefer the girl groups of that era to the girl solos. OLD 55
And FYI O55, sorry you're sore about JA, but I'm just not crazy about that song. But Shelley was sooo gorgeous. I wouldn't have cared what she sang.... Thanks for voting Pink and Jeff. 5 points from me for The Platters when I vote. P.S. I've been listening to a few on the Play List. That doesn't sound like the original of 'Spanish Harlem' and certainly not that horrible fast COVER version of 'There Goes My Baby'. Nobody would vote for that ! The original with Ben E.King on lead vocals, and the great orchestral backing, is a superb song. If anyone can find any better videos - or even sound links of the ORIGINALS for those - Dap and I would appreciate it. But it is very difficult to find the originals of Drifters' Hits. They had numerous lead singers, multiple personnel changes, and at one stage there were two vocal Groups calling themselves 'The Drifters'. pinkstones
If anyone can find any better videos - or even sound links of the ORIGINALS for those - Dap and I would appreciate it. Spanish Harlem There Goes My Baby Those are both audio links to Grooveshark. People should really stop using YouTube to find music, you're not going to find 1/3 of what you want. Videos are one thing, but if you're looking for audio you need to use an audio-specific site.
OLD 55
Now that's the Ben E.King I remember. Thank you so much, Pink. Gee, I nominated Ben E. King's Spanish Harlem - unsuccessfully - in the Top Ten a couple of years ago. So I then tried Aretha Franklin's version which made it.

OLD 55
I'd never heard it before ! Have to hear it a few more times, I think. I'll just mention this again. Points for New songs do NOT accumulate from week to week. Each week is a whole new ball game for them. If you're voting late, you're really wasting your votes by not supporting (at least some) previous nominations.
edna
...but if you' re voting soon and then other voters nominate great songs, you've waisted the opportunity to support them too... unless you wait till next week and you nominate the songs.
