OLD 55
Thanks to all who've voted so far. I hope Crazy Don votes, and our other regulars of course ! It would be great to get some new voters too. Chart Whispers. We'll need to send some of the newer songs up if we want any serious challengers to our #1; and there's a few songs ready to drop out, but New ones need enough points to replace them (usually 15-20). It'll be an interesting Chart this week.

_Laurie_
Wipe Out was my first guess, but I know that was in the 60's....so how about Duane Eddy's Rebel Rouser?
OLD 55
Good guess Laurie. It is a Duane Eddy song, 'Some Kind-A Earthquake' which clocked in at 1 minute 17 seconds. Funny, because the version released in the U.K. went for 1.58. VOTING IS CLOSED AND THE NEW TOP 40 IS COMING UP

cyberjudge
Hello again and welcome to Golden Oldies Top 40. I’m your host DJ Ceejay, and here we go. 3 songs move out of our countdown this week: That’ll be all for That’ll Be the Day by Buddy Holly, which ends an 11-week run on the chart, reaching as high as #14, Sealed with a Kiss by Brian Hyland has its fate sealed with a kiss-off after 9 weeks, and a peak at #15, And Rhythm of the Rain by the Cascades washes out after 9 weeks, peaking at #26. 3 new songs take their place, 2 by artists new to the countdown: Bobby Vinton has his first chart entry at #36, with Blue Velvet, a cover of the old Tony Bennett tune. The Exciters also make their chart debut this week, with Tell Him at #30. And the highest newbie this week is the 4th song to grace our chart for the “Geniusâ€, Ray Charles, who opens at #28 with Unchain My Heart. As the saying goes, good things come in 3’s; and this week, there are 3 songs that make double-digit climbs in the countdown, and 3 songs that break into the Top 10: Save the Last Dance for Me by the Drifters, which debuted last week at #39, dances up 10 places this week to #29. Louie Louie by the Kingsmen climbs 13 notches from #23 to enter the Top 10 at #10. Dream Lover by Bobby Darin only inches up 2 spots from #11 to #9, but it’s enough to earn him his 2nd Top 10 hit, following Mack the Knife. And our biggest climber this week also enters the top 10: Last week, Lesley Gore took over the #2 spot with It’s My Party. This week, It’s My Party plummets from #2 to #8, but who replaces her in the runner-up position? None other than Lesley Gore, who soars up 17 spots from #19 with You Don’t Own Me. And the song that’s really got a hold on #1 for the 3rd straight week is: You guessed it: You’ve Really Got a Hold on Me, by the Miracles. That concludes another edition of Golden Oldies Top 40, which is brought to you by the lovely folks here at www.songfacts.com . Until next week, keep your head in the stars and keep reaching for the ground . And leave your mouse right where it is.
