  1. I plan on being here a long time. Hopefully one day they will start an instant messaging section.
  2. Richard Pryor Woody Allen Robert Klein Mario Cuttone Billy Crystal Marilyn Michaels Bill Hicks Richard Jeni Steve Martin Cathy Ladman
  3. Dave Brubeck would be an excellent primer. A favorite of mine also is Vince Guaraldi. Miles Davis, Stan Getz, Charlie Byrd, Oscar Peterson, and Chick Corea are great, too.
  4. I received this newletter/e-mail today from follingstones.com: Stones Fans, At long last, the "Circus" is coming to town...and to your house, too, if you like. Yes, "The Rolling Stones Rock And Roll Circus," the legendary special shot back in 1968, with the original Mick-Keith-Charlie-Brian-Bill line up, is coming to a theater near you. This rocking and amazing historical document that features our guys as well as John Lennon, Eric Clapton, The Who, Marianne Faithfull, Taj Mahal, Jethro Tull, Mitch Mitchell and others will be shown on the big screen at 50 theaters around the country for ONE NIGHT ONLY—OCTOBER 11—at participating Regal Cinemas, representing a once-in-a lifetime opportunity for fans to see the Stones on the big screen performing six of their classics. On October 12th, the very next day, ABKCO will release ?Rock And Roll Circus? on DVD, in 5.1 Surrond Sound, with unseen footage, newly recorded audio commentary from the Mick, Keith, Bill, Pete Townshend, Marianne Faithfull, Yoko Ono, director Michael Lindsay-Hogg and many others, as well as loads of other extras. Full Length musical performances include six Stones classics that were brand new at the time. They include ?Jumping Jack Flash,? ?Parachute Woman,? ?No Expectations,? ?You Can?t Always Get What You Want,? ?Sympathy For The Devil? and ?Salt of The Earth.? John Lennon heads a super group (Clapton, Mitchell, Keith ? on bass!) dubbed ?Dirty Mac? to perform The Beatles? ?Yer Blues? that was Lennon?s first public performance outside the confines of The Beatles.
  5. Shannon and Kenne...I agree whole-heartedly. I'm not much of a Dead fan but I love this song to pieces. Makes me mellow.
  6. Geez, Nirv...that song would do it for me as well. Other tunes that always lift my spirit are Grover Washington's version of Soulful Strut and George Benson's, Breezing.
  7. I think the best version Of Light My Fire is by The Doors.
  8. Are you familiar with Robert Goulet's "If Ever I would Leave You"? It sounds like a song that would show off your baritone/bass range.
  9. Then there's Quaterflash's "Harden My Heart" in which the lead singer plays sax.
  10. Chollie...it sounds like something she may have done with Fairport Convention. I'll do some checking.
  11. PS:...and I would think the Wiggles would have to have something on the subject.
  12. The Jarmels', "A Little Bit Of Soap". It's quite a reach but how about "Take Me To The River"? ...."washa me down, washa me down". The Standells', "Dirty Water"...also a reach. I know there was a song for kids who are afraid of going down the drain but I can't remember what it was called, who did it or anything. Ring a bell with anyone?? Apparently the drain fear is rather common in very young children.
  13. Check out Magdalene Lane by Don McLean. It's sinfully good.
  14. The Essential Ella Fitzgerald. Ever wonder what all the fuss was about concerning the world's greatest female singer? This will answer all your questions.
  15. LOL...Floyd, you got me going in circles. Too bad that wasn't a Beatles song.
  16. I always just assumed it was a play on words. Revolver being that the record "revolves" around the turntable. Knowing The Beatles though, i guess there must be more to it than that. Great album though.
  17. Chris, I knew you were young but never would have guessed 14. You're mature beyond your years and quite intelligent. Why are your grades only decent? Are you bored? I was that way when I was your age. I got only decent grades but I was learning a lot. I just didn't participate much. Later I "got into" a few subjects and found that grades were easy to achieve if you were interested enough. Music is great, but allow yourself to have many choices when you get older by getting better grades now. Nice to know ya! Glad to have met you here.
  18. Hi, I'm Joe. I look a little like my avatar. I'm one of the old heads here...58 in the 23rd of this month. I'm married to a beautiful, intelligent and sexy girl named Joann. We live in Philadelphia, PA. Our 32nd anniversary is this Thursday, 9/16. We have one son, Joe who is 28. We're going to be grandparents for the first time. It's a girl (Sophia Maria) and she's due October 21st. I've always loved just about all kinds of music. R&B, Motown, Classic Rock, Jazz, Classical, even a little country. Joann and I are good dancers. Music truly is "the food of love". I do not play an instrument (wanted to be a drummer, folks wouldn't go for it). Odd because Dad had played bass in a combo when he was young and his Dad was first trombone in the Philadelphia Orchestra under Leopold Stokowski. I did sing in a doo wop group for a couple of years (second tenor/baritone). I enjoy burning CD's for myself and others. I fancy myself a quite talented blender of songs/styles. I've always been very athletic. I played football, baseball (not soft-ball)and basketball well into my late 30's. Tennis until recent years. Golf these days. I gave up smoking cold turkey in 1989...Luckies, 2-3 pks a day. I'm diabetic...adult onset. I eat way too many things that I shouldn't. Can't drink much, though I never did anyway. I drink a couple cases of Dannon Spring Water each week. I love watching sports. Hate reality shows. My wife and I see at least 3 movies a week. Since discovering the internet about 5 years ago I don't read as much as I used to (nor as much as I'd like)...even worse since joining the forums here at Songfacts. I've mellowed so much over the years and I feel rather wise now. But, don't go callin' me Yoda! I enjoy all of you here and I'm so glad to have "joined" you. Great minds with music in common. Can't beat that!
  19. My wife is awesome. She's intelligent, beautiful and sexy. She's the most generous, considerate person I've ever known. She's a wonderful cook. She pampers me just like my Italian mama did before her. This Thursday will mark our 32nd Anniversary. We met in my buddy's wedding. He is her cousin. She was a bridesmaid and I her escort. We danced all night and just seemed to mesh from the very beginning. As for how I knew she was the one...it's hard to describe...you just know . When it happens you'll recognize it immediately. I don't believe it's something that you can look for...just let it happen. Be out there meeting people and interacting. Maybe you'll be as lucky as I am. I can recommend two Temptations songs for a little insight into this. Born To Love You and This Is My Beloved . Good luck to all of you who hope to meet that right someone.
