blue_n_white
Wow. A radio station that takes requests. What an interesting idea .
Levis
They are classics because they are a) old, commercially successful. We don't disagree here.
Super Ry 71
Wow. A radio station that takes requests. What an interesting idea . I can't tell if you are being sarcastic, or if you were just born under a faded moon.
Batman
I think these songs are so overplayed because classic rock playlists don't really change, or at least not very quickly. I mean, if you've got a station playing the hits of the 60's and 70's, those hits aren't going to change from one year to another.
Steel2Velvet
I like the song, but it sure seems lately they play Santana and the chick's "The Game Of Love" an awful lot on my favorite station.

Actually it was sarcasm.....and the moon I was born under was A Whiter Shade of Pale...not faded Edited September 7, 2007 by Guest
miamisammy29
The most overplayed song in the history of radio (or any other medium, for that matter) is Van Morrison's "Brown-Eyed Girl".

Super Ry 71
We should start another "Most overplayed songs on radio" poll, since this one is so inaccurate.

Sweet Jane 61
I wont play Freebird, or Stairway or Hotel California on my show. Those songs are played too much on classic rock stations. I will from time to time play the live version of Hotel California from Hell Freezes Over, that is a very cool version. I think Cocaine is played too much and I love Clapton, but he has other great tunes that can be played.
_Laurie_
I love the live version Of Hotel California SJ!....good stuff for sure :guitar:
Sweet Jane 61
Especially the beginning, it has a very latin feel to it. When I saw Don Henley back in 2000 he did that in his show just like on Hell Freezes Over, I got chills. Awesome!
skybluesky
Thank the lord for Jane. I hate Hotel California now for being so overplayed. I think Lynrd Skynrd gets overplayed, at least on my classic station.
bazooka
Somebody must like hearing Pink Floyd's Comfortably Numb and Have A Cigar over and over again. The Classic Rock station here plays them way too much.
Mike
I don't think I could ever hear Comfortably Numb too many times, Have a cigar, however, I could do without most of the time. But Have a cigar ain't a Gilmour vocal either.

I think Lynrd Skynrd gets overplayed, at least on my classic station. I'm lucky that even though the music is already set for each day, I can dump songs, add songs, and take requests. We don't have to stick to our play list, and that does make it cool for listeners. And I like to mix it up and play live cuts and songs that were popular but not considered a hit. Hey, I'm a listener too!
