Dappled
I agree, it's all about the lyrics and the haunting singing Yes, and the beautiful melody. Please try and find Lindisfarne's Winter Song, one of the best Christmas songs imo. When Winter's shadowy fingers first pursue you down the street And your boots no longer lie about the cold around your feet Do you spare a thought for Summer whose passage is complete Whose memories lie in ruins and whose ruins lie in heat When Winter.... comes howling in. When the wind is singing strangely, blowing music through your head And your rain-splattered windows make you decide to stay in bed Do you spare a thought for the homeless tramp who wishes he was dead Or do you pull your bed-clothes higher, dream of Summertime instead, When Winter.... comes howling in. The creeping cold has fingers that caress without permission And mystic crystal snowdrops only aggravate the condition Do you spare a thought for the gypsy with no secure position Who's turned and spurned by village and town and the Magistrate's decision, When Winter.... comes howling in. When the turkey's in the oven and the Christmas presents are bought And Santa's in his module - he's an American astronaut - Do you spare a thought for Jesus, who had nothing but his thoughts, Who got busted - just for talking, and befriending the wrong sorts, When Winter.... comes howling in. OLD 55
Farin and I have had further discussions, and he'll probably finalise the Nominations tomorrow morning U.S. Time and start the voting, but extend it as necessary into next week. Please nominate NOW if you haven't yet ! With your co-operation we could still have 2 Top Tens by the end of next week. Thanks for the extra nominations b-f and Diggs. Gees I saw a lot of your countrymen on TV today at the First Test. Maybe we are a bunch of convicts here. All of the Hotels have more than doubled their tariffs to make a quick buck - probably put the price of beer up too. I'm ashamed of them. It's 'not cricket'. ................................................. We're in a bit of a Limbo situation here with the Top Ten. I couldn't access the Site before, and maybe Farin hasn't been able to either. I'd like to get the Nominations listed and Voting started before the weekend, because I still believe it's possible to fit in 2 Top Tens by the end of next week ! ................................................. I hope all of our American friends have a great Thanksgiving today.
