So I am asking for some help, I mean that is a lot of shows to organize. Here is what I have so far.... SOUTHERN ROCK PSYCHELIC CAFÉ GET THE LED OUT CAFÉ CLASSIC ROCK GUITARISTS HEARTLAND ROCK FEMALE ROCKERS WOMAN'S NAME IN THE TITLE SAN FRANCISCO ARTISTS CANADIAN ARTISTS PROTEST AND WAR SONS ALL ABOUT ROCK AND ROLL (SONG TITLES WITH ROCK AND ROLL IN THEM) YOU HEARD IT IN THE MOVIES LET'S TAKE A TRIP (SONGS WITH A PLACE IN TITLE) LIVE CUTS GLAM ROCK BRITISH INVASION OF THE 60'S ARENA ROCK BLUES ROCK My brain is getting fried. bluesboy Posted October 16, 2006 Report Posted October 16, 2006 R & B from the mid ----> late '60s mostly the big 3 record labels Stax Motown Atlantic
Tenacious_Peaches Posted October 16, 2006 Report Posted October 16, 2006 Wow, Jane, that is a lot to come up with. You've got a good start on them. I'm stealing this from Jenny's top ten of the day, but how about one for duets?
Shawna Posted October 16, 2006 Report Posted October 16, 2006 here's a couple of random suggestions: Big Hair 80s Songs With Questions in the Titles (ex. Do You Love Me? Wouldn't It Be Nice? Do You Wanna Dance?, etc.) Anything but love(songs that are NOT about love)
TheLizard Posted October 16, 2006 Report Posted October 16, 2006 Songs featuring keyboards or synthesizers Acoustic songs (Sorry I couldn't come up with any catchy names, but those are two possible themes)
RonJonSurfer Posted October 17, 2006 Report Posted October 17, 2006 British Blues Detroit Rocks New York Rocks Mersey Beat Artists Beach Sounds
Sweet Jane 61 Posted October 17, 2006 Author Report Posted October 17, 2006 Thanks for the suggestions...this is one tough project to take one, but I am doing it...cuz I am one kick azz DJ!
Jenny Posted October 17, 2006 Report Posted October 17, 2006 Since you're from the Midwest...maybe some Midwestern Rock
Uncle Joe Posted October 17, 2006 Report Posted October 17, 2006 Don't forget the ever-popular One Hit Wonders. You can also go with themes such as Rain Songs or Dance Songs. Also, Holiday themes, seasonal, etc.
skybluesky Posted October 17, 2006 Report Posted October 17, 2006 We're Number Two-Artists that have never had a song go higher than #2 on the charts, or really popular songs that never made it to #1 Forgotten British Invasion Home State Heroes-That would be rockers from Missouri, right? I LOVE anything theme, so I would listen to your show. My classic rock station thinks hair metal is classic rock, and that P****s me off.
Uncle Joe Posted October 18, 2006 Report Posted October 18, 2006 Hey April, you can really blow their minds with an Uncle Joe's Favorite Classic Rock Songs theme. Just say the word and I'll send you my list.
Shawna Posted October 18, 2006 Report Posted October 18, 2006 I've got it! Show tunes! ha ha ha just kidding
c_s_1987 Posted October 18, 2006 Report Posted October 18, 2006 (edited) Since your radio show probably plays mostly British and American music, how about a segment of songs that aren't from either of those countries? Make sure to include "Khe Sanh" by Australian band Cold Chisel. Since you will need a lot of themes if this continues for long, I'll keep coming up with random suggestions: - Greatest guitar solos - Artists who died too young - Great album tracks that weren't released as singles Edited October 18, 2006 by Guest
Uncle Joe Posted October 18, 2006 Report Posted October 18, 2006 Artists who've lived too long. Way too long.
Sweet Jane 61 Posted October 18, 2006 Author Report Posted October 18, 2006 Thanks everyone. Been working on this a lot, taking a break for a few days, my brain hurts!
TheLizard Posted October 18, 2006 Report Posted October 18, 2006 Artists who've lived too long. Way too long. So... Michael Bolton?
_Laurie_ Posted October 18, 2006 Report Posted October 18, 2006 How about Rock-n-Roll Hall Of Fame Artist/Bands?
Shadows Posted October 19, 2006 Report Posted October 19, 2006 Ooh, you could do artists that aren't in the rock and roll hall of fame, but really deserve to be.
skybluesky Posted October 19, 2006 Report Posted October 19, 2006 How could two Janis fans not come up with this theme-Pearls from Pearl. That would be the best radio show ever.
c_s_1987 Posted October 20, 2006 Report Posted October 20, 2006 So... Michael Bolton? That theme would be too painful. I noticed Bolton has been recording for 31 years now, which is really about 30 years too long.
Sweet Jane 61 Posted October 20, 2006 Author Report Posted October 20, 2006 How could two Janis fans not come up with this theme-Pearls from Pearl. That would be the best radio show ever. Janis is a given...just like a Clapton show and Springsteen...I could not call myself a DJ if I didn't do those. I am just looking for things that are different...I did come up with one about the Monterey Pop Festival, a lot of great artists at that show. You all have helped a lot. 52 shows is a lot, I have 26 so I am on my way!
Dappled Posted October 23, 2006 Report Posted October 23, 2006 Beatlescovers that became hits. Swamprock. Surfmusic. Famous duos.
Steel2Velvet Posted October 25, 2006 Report Posted October 25, 2006 I used to DJ at a country station and did a Saturday afternoon theme show. The episode that got the biggest response was "How it all started." Had to do a lot of library work for that one, however; finding real old recordings, researching and such.
Sweet Jane 61 Posted October 25, 2006 Author Report Posted October 25, 2006 You guys are definately helping me out. I sometimes get so frustrated I want to scream. That is an interesting idea S2V, that would be cool with our format. Thanks again all!
skybluesky Posted October 26, 2006 Report Posted October 26, 2006 Kicked in the Nads by Love: anyone who has ever gone through a nasty divorce, or has been left for another rocker, so you could play Sir Paul, Neil Diamond (one of his exces received the largest divorce settlement in divorce history), George Harrison, and many, many, many others
