OLD 55
THESE Nominators are yet to Vote; then we'll have ourselves a Top Ten. Kevin bluesboy rtstuff I'll be closing it off tomorrow morning Oz Time, in about 10 hours. Unfortunately this is becoming stressful to me, and when Farin is able to 'resume control' of the Top Ten I intend to take a break from Songfacts. OLD 55
# 35 For The Week Ending 22nd October 2006. 1. The Joker - Steve Miller Band (1973) 2. Boogie On Reggae Woman - Stevie Wonder (1974) 3. Cocaine - Eric Clapton (1977) 4. Landslide - Fleetwood Mac (1975) 5. Once In A Lifetime - Talking Heads (1980) 6. What Is Life - George Harrison (1970) 7. Take It To The Limit - Eagles (1975) 8. Bend Me, Shape Me - The American Breed (1967) 9. Bang & Blame - R.E.M. (1994) 10.Tush - ZZ Top (1975) :guitar: THANK YOU TO ALL WHO PARTICIPATED 70s Songs dominated with SEVEN in the Top Ten. And those people who nominated Bob Dylan songs will be disappointed when they see the final Points. One got beaten on a countback for 10th place. Fancy getting beaten by a tush; what a BUMmer. I still reckon multiple nominations of the same Artist/Group splits their votes !
edna
Well, at least Talking Heads made the Top Ten...
Farin
It's really surprising (in a good way), that "Bang & Blame" made the Top Ten... considering that some R.E.M. songs that I like more ("What's the frequency, Kenneth", "It's the end of the world as we know it (and I feel fine)" or "Man on the moon") didn't make it and often it wasn't even close... Lucky
I don't remember either of those being nominated. Either of them I would've thought would have made it in, they are my favorites too. Which is why it never hurts to renominate!! Great top ten, I see the Eagles made it IN again, but no where near the top!!
Levis
for Bang and Blame! I admit, I'm surprised to see it there too. Happy, but surprised!

OLD 55
Well done b-f. It's good to see a song that was primarily a U.K./Euro Hit place so high. It didn't chart in the U.S. but it looks like it's well known. Also nice to see an R.E.M. song in there too. I think "What's The Frequency, Kenneth ?" may have been nominated twice before ? (Dappled will be able to tell me). I made a comment the first time that I didn't think it would attract too many U.S. votes, but CeeCee will vote for it ! And it beats me why there's not more Eagles' songs in our Top Tens too. I never travel without my 'Best Of The Eagles' CD in the car stereo. Steel2Velvet
I do love Sinatra's music, just can't count "Luck Be A Lady" among my favorites of his. I would certainly vote for "That's Life," "NYNY" or certain others.
CanAm
Not much love for Sinatra. Oh well. I love Luck Be A Lady by Sinatra. It made number 2 on my list! There are only 2 or 3 Sinatra tunes that I like more.

bazooka
Whazup? I was really surprised The Joker hit number one. I'm a big Steve Miller fan, but The Joker is one of my least favorites ( and it didn't get my vote). The great Steve Miller songs nominated previously ( Jet Airliner, Rock N' Me, Space Cowboy ) hadn't gathered big points. Must be that old pomitous of love.
