RonJonSurfer Posted July 11, 2006 Report Posted July 11, 2006 1. Frankenstein - The Edgar Winter Group 2. Funeral For A Friend/Love Lies Bleeding - Elton John
daslied Posted July 11, 2006 Report Posted July 11, 2006 1. Sleepwalk - Santo & Johnny 2. Soma - Smashing Pumpkins
Uncle Joe Posted July 11, 2006 Report Posted July 11, 2006 Rave On - Buddy Holly (50's) Since I Don't Have You - The Skyliners (50's)
Tenacious_Peaches Posted July 11, 2006 Report Posted July 11, 2006 I had to take a break from this last nomination and voting cycle to clear my mind, but I'm back, baby! Come to my Window - Melissa Etheridge Closer to Fine - Indigo Girls I just read some poetry by Sappho of Lesbos for my World Lit class, so that explains my same sex love this go around.
Sweet Jane 61 Posted July 11, 2006 Report Posted July 11, 2006 Diana Ross ~ Ain't No Mountain High Enough Tantric ~ Mourning Ok I know not a song from the 60's or 70's, but this song is special to me and I loved this group. I think Hugo Ferreira's voice is powerful and just has something that caught me and hooked me.
Lucky Posted July 11, 2006 Report Posted July 11, 2006 1. Sleepwalk - Santo & Johnny 2. Soma - Smashing Pumpkins Daslied I find these pretty darn amusing together. Still working mine out..
CanAm Posted July 11, 2006 Report Posted July 11, 2006 1. Rocket Man - Elton John 2. One Fine Morning - Lighthouse Although not as well known as Chicago nor nearly as long-lived, IMO, during its heyday in the late 1960's and early 1970's, Lighthouse was every bit as good as Chicago. They were the first "rock" act to play the Newport, Monterey and Boston Globe jazz festivals and toured with jazz greats like Miles Davis and Chick Corea. At the Isle of Wight Festival in England, they were the only act, other than Jimi Hendrix, to appear twice. Interestingly, during his North American debut, Elton John was the opening act for Lighthouse.

TheLizard Posted July 11, 2006 Report Posted July 11, 2006 I have to say, that's pretty awesome. I guess there is hope for our generation after all!
Shadows Posted July 11, 2006 Report Posted July 11, 2006 Before They Make Me Run - The Rolling Stones Subterranean Homesick Blues - Bob Dylan
OLD 55 Posted July 11, 2006 Report Posted July 11, 2006 It's great to see some familiar "faces" back again. Maybe I closed the last Top Ten off too early, as some people did miss out on voting. Whenever I logged on there just didn't seem to be many of our "regulars" around, and I thought a lot of you might be waiting to nominate again. We'll try to get the balance right and play this one by ear. If WEEKLY Top Tens would work better, that's fine with me. Remember bluesboy's suggestion to compile a 'Phantom CD' of each person's nominations after every TENTH Top Ten ? He and CeeCee have done so in the Thread for #20, and I'm copying their 'CDs' forward to this Thread. I think it's interesting to see our individual music choices, and I'll be going back through Top Tens 11-20 to get mine and post them (why didn't I keep a list of them). I hope more will join us in doing so.
OLD 55 Posted July 12, 2006 Report Posted July 12, 2006 I reckon so Lizard ! People were saying my generation was hopeless when I was a teenager. Elvis (Presley that is) was regarded as the Antichrist by many older people. You know, real old, like 35 or 40. Here's my nominations: Jailhouse Rock - Elvis Presley Midnight Train To Georgia - Gladys Knight & The Pips
TheLizard Posted July 12, 2006 Report Posted July 12, 2006 Well my generation has Marilyn Manson, who just wishes he was the Antichrist. Sometimes I feel that God played some cosmic prank by placing me in this time period, instead of some time 40 or so years ago.
steel magnolia Posted July 12, 2006 Report Posted July 12, 2006 Can't Get Enough - Bad Company Magic Man - Heart
