OLD 55
Thanks guys. What happened to Edna ? She must be having second thoughts on her nominations. Here's mine. Catch you later - it's Dinner time here. Lyin' Eyes - The Eagles The Tracks Of My Tears - Smokey Robinson & The Miracles (Val and I saw a movie with it in today, and I just can't stop singing it). So take a good look at my face You see my smile looks out of place If you look closer it's easy to trace The tracks of my tears
edna
I was working, I'm back home now... I don't know what songs I want to nominate... so I'll go with "You're so vain" - Carly Simon "Sorrow" - David Bowie. "Sorrow" is a McCoys' song from 1965 and then The Merseys did a very good version... but I love Bowie's cover.

OLD 55
Hi Phil and Edna. Sorrow is a great song. I don't know the McCoys' version of it, but I liked both the Merseys and Bowie's versions. It's difficult to get it on many Bowie 'Best Of' compilations because it wasn't a hit in the U.S. Same with Ashes To Ashes which I've got on my "ones to nominate" list. Do you like that one Edna ? Or am I wrong ? Are both/either of those songs well known in the U.S. ? With your long blonde hair and your eyes of blue The only thing I ever got from you was sorrow.... edna
I like very much "Ashes to ashes"! I believe it was in "Scary Monsters"... I'd have to check. "Ashes to ashes, funk to funky, we know Major Tom's a junkie..."

Kevin
I see . I thought that just 'throwing out ' tunes that may grab an interest , and then seeing how many really liked that song ( within the comparisons of other nominations , is the kick for me ...) invisible_r
yeah, well, if your song only gets 5 points or 4 points, like a couple of mine have, you get disappointed!

You may have seen my past raves about Bowie's "Pin-Ups" Album...complete with Bowie and Twig The Wonderkid (Twiggy) on the cover. These are Bowie's favorite Mersey era songs including Sorrow, The Shapes of Things, where have All The Good Times Gone, See Emily Play, Here Comes The Night and more...the bonus CD tracks include Springsteen covers too. A must own album for classic rock fans.
