OLD 55 Posted March 2, 2006 Report Posted March 2, 2006 I'm tired of looking at the Songfacts Daily/ Weekly Top Tens and seeing the same old songs ! Not that I don't like them - just that there's not much variety, so........ Here's my Top Ten for now .... well, almost. Can you work them out from the Clues I've provided ? They were ALL U.S. HIT SINGLES - 6 or 7 of them were #1. No obscure Album Tracks. March 2nd 2006. 1. The most played song on U.S. radio. 2. For a relative of one of the Fab 4 (written by Paul). 3. How The King would feel after an accident. 4. What a gullible moron thinks, according to this Group. 5. NOT Ebb Tide. Bigger than that she reckons. 6. I thought the rain had stopped, but.... 7. Resurrected in Moulin Rouge (the original version though). 8. Medley from a 60s Stage Musical (sung by a Group). 9. A Texas city on the Coast. 10.Think of Sherlock Holmes for this place in the U.K.. ................................................. I hope a few people will pluck up the courage to have a go. See how many YOU can get. Answer as many times as you like. GOOD LUCK !
Uncle Joe Posted March 2, 2006 Report Posted March 2, 2006 3-All Shook Up 5-Wipeout 6-It's Raining Again 9-Galveston 10- England Swings Like A Pendulum Do
OLD 55 Posted March 2, 2006 Author Report Posted March 2, 2006 My first customer. Good on you Joe. You have 3 of the 5 correct. I've just gone back and reworded some of them too ! Goodnight Mate. :sleepy:

_Laurie_ Posted March 2, 2006 Report Posted March 2, 2006 I think they have all been answered, havent they?
Farin Posted March 2, 2006 Report Posted March 2, 2006 I think they have all been answered, havent they? ... if there are no wrong answers...
daslied Posted March 2, 2006 Report Posted March 2, 2006 I think we're missing two. Darryl said that Joe got 3 of 5, but we don't know which 3.
Uncle Joe Posted March 2, 2006 Report Posted March 2, 2006 I'm betting I got 3, 6 and 9 correct. That leaves 5 yet to be answered correctly.
phil Posted March 2, 2006 Report Posted March 2, 2006 2. World Without Love - Peter & Gordon ( Peter Asher was Paul's brother-law.
daslied Posted March 2, 2006 Report Posted March 2, 2006 But "Hey Jude" was about John's son, Julian. Good answer, though.
daslied Posted March 2, 2006 Report Posted March 2, 2006 That's also good, since it was for his mother. I like that it makes Darryl's question look a bit tricky.
OLD 55 Posted March 3, 2006 Author Report Posted March 3, 2006 Not that tricky Das. Especially since I didn't know about "Let It Be" being written by Paul for his Mother. I always thought Mother Mary was a spiritual reference ! You're all very sharp. I thought you'd have more trouble with #4 and maybe give another answer for #6, although Joe's was the one I was after. Thanks for participating, and for the nice words about the game. I'm preparing a new one now. Here's the final TOP TEN again. 1. YOU'VE LOST THAT LOVIN' FEELIN' / RIGHTEOUS BROTHERS 2. HEY JUDE / BEATLES 3. ALL SHOOK UP / ELVIS PRESLEY 4. WHAT A FOOL BELIEVES / DOOBIE BROTHERS 5. THE TIDE IS HIGH / BLONDIE 6. IT'S RAINING AGAIN / SUPERTRAMP 7. LADY MARMALADE / LABELLE 8. AQUARIUS: LET THE SUN SHINE IN (FLESH FAILURES) / 5th DIMENSION 9. GALVESTON / GLEN CAMPBELL 10.BAKER STREET / GERRY RAFFERTY

No obscure Album Tracks. March 3 2006 1. The father of one of the Group said "why don't you put 'yes, yes, yes' ?" 2. Used in an advertising campaign for computer software. 3. Would the Pharoahs have approved of this frivolity ? 4. Sad song by a Canadian farewelling family and friends. 5. He made a wicked wager. 6. Goodness Gracious ! 7. Unlikely duet produced her first U.S. Hit for over a decade. 8. He sure got around to visit all those women. 9. An Instrumental that may have been on a "time limit". 10.A colored musical instrument.
