edna Posted November 18, 2004 Report Posted November 18, 2004 Sure, time and a little hint: the leader´s new band has style...
TenYearsGone Posted November 18, 2004 Report Posted November 18, 2004 In case I´m right, here goes my guess: 1) Three musicians band, England, first 70s. 2) Something in common with the Who. 3) Leader formed another band in 1983. If I was wrong let´s the winner take it all...sorry, winner post another one. tough one, Edna...I was thinking SMALL FACES but the timing isn't right.
edna Posted November 19, 2004 Report Posted November 19, 2004 Another small hint?? Another hint: very mod. Could be "caught in the traffic"...
miamisammy29 Posted November 19, 2004 Report Posted November 19, 2004 Nope, still nuthin'. Daniel, help us out, Dude. ::
edna Posted November 19, 2004 Report Posted November 19, 2004 Well, I guess it was very difficult... The JAM ("caught in the traffic") English band, formed in 1973, mods (the press compared them always with the WHO), Paul Weller formed STYLE COUNCIL in 1983... I´ll post an easier one: 1) Band formed in Liverpool in the late 50s. 2) Drummer called Ringo. 3) Singer/guitar shot by Mark Chapman in Nov. 80, in New York 4) Pop singer Julian Lennon is son of one of them.
edna Posted November 19, 2004 Report Posted November 19, 2004 Ok, I´ll have to leave soon... pls, miami or Daniel, post a new one...
miamisammy29 Posted November 19, 2004 Report Posted November 19, 2004 1) Band formed in Liverpool in the late 50s. 2) Drummer called Ringo. 3) Singer/guitar shot by Mark Chapman in Nov. 80, in New York 4) Pop singer Julian Lennon is son of one of them. Nope, sorry, Edna, I'm stumped on this one, too. Is it Santana? I should have gotten the Jam, though. So I'll post a new one: 1. Four-member band formed in 1990 2. One member came from 80's hair band 3. One member came from 70's/80's artistic hard rock band 4. One member came from Detroit
miamisammy29 Posted November 19, 2004 Report Posted November 19, 2004 Oh come on, Daniel, think hard. They only made two albums....and then, of course, a "Best of" album. Band is not together anymore. Bassist/singer was from hair band. Both guitarists are legendary.
TenYearsGone Posted November 19, 2004 Report Posted November 19, 2004 1. One member had a musical instrument named after him. 2. Three years passed between their first and second hit songs. 3. One of their songs immortalized a hippie-era "guru."
edna Posted November 20, 2004 Report Posted November 20, 2004 Nope, sorry, Edna, I'm stumped on this one, too. Is it Santana? I should have gotten the Jam, though. No, it´s not Santana... but you were close! Both had al least ONE HIT in the 60s!
TenYearsGone Posted November 21, 2004 Report Posted November 21, 2004 1. One member had a musical instrument named after him. 2. Three years passed between their first and second hit songs. 3. One of their songs immortalized a hippie-era "guru." ________________________________________________________ OK this one is hard....here's a hint: The instrument in clue #1 is really a modified mellotron, which has been used extensively by this band (who are in their 40th year as a group).
TenYearsGone Posted November 21, 2004 Report Posted November 21, 2004 it is the Moodies...nice going sammy.
miamisammy29 Posted November 21, 2004 Report Posted November 21, 2004 Okay new one: 1. Band formed in early 1990's 2. Two members were from Mother Love Bone 3. Lead singer was surfer from San Diego, Calif.
_Annabelle_ Posted November 21, 2004 Report Posted November 21, 2004 Pearl Jam. Assuming that's correct, here's another: 1) Canadian/American band 2) Began as a backing band for Ronnie Hawkins and later Bob Dylan 3) Eric Clapton at one point wanted to join them.
edna Posted November 21, 2004 Report Posted November 21, 2004 That´s the Band, Annabelle. Shall I post? yes? thank you! 1) Formed in Canterbury, in 1966. 2) Opened Jimi Hendrix´s tour in 68, in the US. 3) Robert Wyatt was one of the first members.
WaitingForMyRocketToCome Posted November 21, 2004 Report Posted November 21, 2004 is it Soft Machine?
edna Posted November 21, 2004 Report Posted November 21, 2004 Yes. Very good, Waiting... you know a lot... your turn!
WaitingForMyRocketToCome Posted November 21, 2004 Report Posted November 21, 2004 Haha thanks edna 1. formed in 1969 by two brothers in Daytona Beach 2. first signed by Liberty Records 3. had an instrumental song that was a tribute to Miles Davis 4. one member killed in 1971
edna Posted November 22, 2004 Report Posted November 22, 2004 Wow... it´s not Canned Heat... nor the Nitty Gritty... I don´t know if I´d dare to ask for a hint...
