They all have the word "Mystic" in titles:

"Into the Mystic" - Morrison

"Natural Mystic" - Marley

"Gates of Mystic" - Forlorn

New one:

What do these biblical figures have in common?

(music-wise, of course)

Jesus

St. Paul

John the Baptist

Herod

Salome

Yes.

They are all kind of satirical statements about peoples' perceptions about the "free and easy" working life of professional musicians.

[*] If it were easy as fishin'

You could be a musician

If you could make sounds loud or mellow

Get a second-hand guitar

Chances are you'll go far

If you get in with the right bunch of fellows

People see you having fun

Just a-lying in the sun

Tell them that you like it this way

It's the work that we avoid

And we're all self-employed

We love to work at nothing all day

[*] So you want to be a rock and roll star

Then listen now to what I say

Just get an electric guitar

Then take some time and learn how to play

And with your hair combed right

And your pants fit tight

It's gonna be all right ...

And in a week or two

If you make the charts

The girls'll tear you apart

[*] Now that ain't workin' that's the way you do it

You play the guitar on that MTV

That ain't workin' that's the way you do it

Money for nothin' and your chicks for free

Go Laurie.

MUSICAL INTERLUDE:

"I used to wake up in the morning

I used to feel so bad

I got so sick of having sleepless nights

I went and told my Dad

He said, "Son now here's some little something"

And stuck them on my wall

And now my nights ain't quite so lonely

In fact, I don't feel bad at all

I don't feel bad at all

Pictures of Lily made my life so wonderful

Pictures of Lily helped me sleep at night

Pictures of Lily solved my childhood problems

Pictures of Lily helped me feel alright

Pictures of Lily

Lily, oh Lily

Lily, oh Lily

Pictures of Lily"

[*] The Smashing Pumpkins (1995)

[*] The Who (1969)

[*] Piotr Ilyitch Tchaikovsky (1880)

Laurie,

"Lily" isn't the link I was looking for.

hints:

add

[*] Prince (1983)

[*] The Who song is from the original Tommy concept album, but I'm pretty sure the lyrics were changed in the movie.

Yes. That's it.

and Tchaikovsky's "1812" Overture in E Flat Major Op. 49.

I think 1921 became '41 in Tommy The Movie because the time frame was shifted from after World War I to post-WWII.

Party on, Laurie! (like it's 1999)
