windy1 Posted November 17, 2004 Report Posted November 17, 2004 Now that I have my new computer with speakers that actually work what do you recommend as the best site to download from? I don't want big expense, and nothing that involves a lot of reconfigurations, which I hear itunes has. Help please. ::
PSYCHOcatholic Posted November 17, 2004 Report Posted November 17, 2004 The best thats up right now.... www.bearshare.com its all free...and it all works...virus free. or Rhapsody! www.rhapsody.com there is a monthly charge though...so bearshare would be your best bet. When downloading make sure you get regular bearshare and not bearshare pro!
Earth-Angel Posted November 17, 2004 Report Posted November 17, 2004 I've heard iMesh is also good, and it might be better seeing as you're in the States when everyone who fileshares is awake at the same time! ::
EdL Posted November 17, 2004 Report Posted November 17, 2004 I like WinMX myself. So do I. Easy to use, no ads, free. Mind you it has its fair share of nutters but you can just ignore them.
Uncle Joe Posted November 17, 2004 Report Posted November 17, 2004 I still use the FREE version of KaZaaLite . I also have Bearshare and Blubster and Xolox, though I hardly ever use 'em anymore. The best and safest come from a network of sharers via e-mail. I'll send you a PM with the e-mail addy.
cosmosis Posted November 17, 2004 Report Posted November 17, 2004 Bit Torrent is the way to go!!! BitComet is a great client and suprnova.org to get the torrent files
Uncle Joe Posted November 17, 2004 Report Posted November 17, 2004 Bit Torrent is the way to go!!! BitComet is a great client and suprnova.org to get the torrent files Welcome back Mr. Mosis!
Tenacious_Peaches Posted November 17, 2004 Report Posted November 17, 2004 Welcome back Mr. Mosis! Yay! We missed you, brother!
TheCyberdemon Posted November 17, 2004 Report Posted November 17, 2004 Make sure whatever you download, that you get anti-spyware software and run it. But, I agree with www.bearshare.com
Aunt_Acid Posted November 18, 2004 Report Posted November 18, 2004 Hey Cosmosis, it's about time! I use(d) Ares, until my dad kicked me off (like he does so many things).
cosmosis Posted November 18, 2004 Report Posted November 18, 2004 Hey all. Talking about spyware blockers, I think that's what kept me from logging in here. For some reason is all good now... go figure
Aunt_Acid Posted November 18, 2004 Report Posted November 18, 2004 Now that you're back, I have something of pressing importance to tell you. While I was at Beaumont Hospital visiting my grandpa, I noticed a piece of artwork in one of the lobbies. It was a mix of black and white flat pieces of metal, and it reminded me of your lizard icon.
cosmosis Posted November 18, 2004 Report Posted November 18, 2004 Well, M. C. Escher was known for completly filling the work area. I don't know if he did any hospitals, but he designed tiles for a few buildings. Go here to see more of his work. http://www.mcescher.com/
Aunt_Acid Posted November 18, 2004 Report Posted November 18, 2004 Hey, Escher! The bowling ball guy.
Brian Posted November 18, 2004 Report Posted November 18, 2004 OK, for all of those that use the peer to peer programs can you search for a song for me and tell me if you can download it. The song is the ACOUSTIC version of Stings "Message in a Bottle". I had a friend search using the kazza lite and he never found it. The closest song he found was the live version. Anyway, I want that song BADLY but I dont want to install a program if the song is not there. Thanks in advance.
Earth-Angel Posted November 18, 2004 Report Posted November 18, 2004 I found "The Police - Message in a bottle (Sting accoustic solo) 4:47" on iMesh I used a filter to find it. I'll have a listen after it's DLd and let you know if it's really that.
Flibble12345 Posted November 18, 2004 Report Posted November 18, 2004 I sincerely hope that people are only downloading music to back up their hard copies they have already bought! Just like I do... all the time... honest! (BitTorrent is the way! Suprnova.org!)
Earth-Angel Posted November 18, 2004 Report Posted November 18, 2004 Oi cheeky - you get back to work! *tsk tsk* You miss me yet? I'm already sick of take-away dinners we get at work when we work the late shift, and I've only had 2 this week! AND to make it worse, Dominoes was an hour late last night. Why can't work find a healthier alternative to greasy pizza, Chinese or curry?
cosmosis Posted November 19, 2004 Report Posted November 19, 2004 OK, for all of those that use the peer to peer programs can you search for a song for me and tell me if you can download it. Well, I found an 'acoustic' version that's not acoustic :: but is him with only a clean electric guitar. Oh and is live. btw, it turned up on Kazaa Lite K++ right away and it came down in 45 seconds. ::

Brian Posted November 19, 2004 Report Posted November 19, 2004 oh i found a trully acoustic one Police - Message In A Bottle (acoustic).mp3 Just him and one acoustic nylon string guitar (3:57 long) Was that on Kazaa Lite? Thanks in advance. PS Welcome back!
cosmosis Posted November 19, 2004 Report Posted November 19, 2004 Yes. Actually all Kazaa versions connect to the same network, but K++ lets you search forever which is a HUGE advantage over the regular one, not to mention the lack of spyware and the IP blocker . But don't go there too often cuz Big Brother is watching...
Earth-Angel Posted November 19, 2004 Report Posted November 19, 2004 Sorry, pdxchump (I love your lion!) but the only version I found was probably the same live version your friend found. Awesome version too, the only time you hear the crowd is at the very start - otherwise it's just the Sting man and his guitar. :guitar:
