  1. Hi All: Well, if you are like me and support SF through buying items through their Amazon link, then you may or may not have received a PHISHING e mail requesting you to validate your credit card information. (I will post the e-mail at the end of this message.) PHISHING is way to send you an e mail to lure you to divulge personal or credit card information. I will be honest, I clicked on the link signed in with my Amazon Password, but I was VERY suspicious about this!! The link and every thing about it looked legit. Sadly, if you logged in it asked for WAY TOO MUCH credit card inf
  2. Yeah, KINK is awesome! I love it. Your mom obviously has good taste! Actually the people that said it went by names like pork chop and dog. One of them was used as a voice on the Grand Theft Auto game. Anyway, this was awhile ago. I will admit, I have listened to KUFO since 'the boycott' and the guys no longer work there. It is odd you mention Marconi and 94.7. I never got into his type of humor either... then or now. Did you know he was fired from 94.7 when he and his co host 'Tiny' made a joke about the Alan Berg beheading! Well, they were instantly fired. Which is really
  3. GUESS WHAT... I am NOT the winner! DAM... With all that money, I was going to... 1) buy Batman a batmobile (local Portland homies have to stick together), 2) develop calorie free Chocolate Chip cookies-that taste like the real thing-for Amy, 3) Give Tenacious Peaches an ALL PAID TRIP to New Zealand but somewhere along the way, I have CIA operatives take the plane down... softly like floating on an umbrella, where upon she lands.. guess where... the land of the LOST IMAGINE THAT!! Hopefully, with a Southern background TP will know how to rescue this tv show from its redundant
  4. Well, I for one vote FOR DJ's! (Do you have my current address for the Christmas card? ?) I mean if I want to listen to nothing but music, I will listen to CD's. I work 12 hour shifts, both day and night, and sometimes the only thing going on is what is on the radio. In Portland, Oregon, I listen to KINK FM RADIO which has really stood out among ALL other radio stations. The first time I ever listened to KINK, I thought, "What the Hell just happened to my radio?" It turns out, KINK went from their 'regular' playlist to a two hour program called 'Lights Out'. In short, just think
  5. I forgot to mention that the county website for Vancouver, Washington (just across the river from Portland) also has a web accessible database of sex offenders living in that area. Like I said, I would like to think most county websites across the US do the same thing. If you want to find out, just Google your city, state and the words 'sex offender' to find out. Example Google entry, VANCOUVER WASHINGTON SEX OFFENDER. The first hit is a LINK to the Clark County list of sex offenders. I never knew this resource was available so I just wanted to pass it along.
  6. I dont make a habit of watching the Oprah show, but on Tuesday, there was a show about Shasta Groene, and other young CHILDREN that have been kidnapped, raped, and murdered! Sadly, Shasta is not the only case. There are so many more out there that it is unbearable to think of. I thought I would create this thread to create 'awareness' among songfactors to teach your children about this criminal element that exists in our society. For example, in recent DAYS, a high school student-in my local area-was waiting for the school bus. Two men drove up next to her and asked her for di
  7. LINKED for the lazy Thanks for the heads up! I will pass this onto my friend that is a die hard Melissa fan! Thanks.
  8. After hearing about Gilligan (Bob Denver) passing away recently, I reminisced about hearing a song that a perfect fusion of the lyrics to Gilligans Island, sung to the music of "Stairway to Heaven" by Led Zepplin. The song is called, "STAIRWAY TO GILLIGAN". I first heard this song performed by a comedian at a show in Vegas almost 17 years ago. I was completely STUNNED!! I thought the comedian was a musical genius! But after searching Google I found out that "Little Roger and the Goosebumps" made this funny cover song back in the 1970's. If you have REAL player you can listen to
  9. Does anyone know where I can get the version of this song where Alanis opens with, "I can be the NIGHTMARE of the grandest kind..." versus "I can be an A**HOLE of the grandest kind."?? I have ordered imports of this single-including the radio edit-but they all have the word "A**hole". Has anyone listened to this song? It is quite a good song! It seems to be a song from a girl with insecurities to her boyfriend that accepts her unconditionally. However, one day I was listening to this song on the radio and the dj said that this song takes on an ENTIRELY different meaning if it
  10. This is straight from Webers Big Book of Grilling: "Kosher Salt: We only use kosher salt in this book for a couple of reasons. First, It's particularly well suited for grilling because of its size. Unlike fine grained table salt, kosher salt consists of big flakes that sit on the surface of the food. As the flame draws juices to the surface of the food, they melt these coarser flakes, resulting in great surface flavor. We also like the complex flavor of kosher salt, which comes from the other minerals in it. Because Kosher salt is less concentrated, if you need to substitute table salt
  11. You know, a few years ago I stumbled onto a huge topic on a message board about how to cook steaks. Everyone suggested this and that marinade, but the predominant overpowering suggestion is that you dont need ANY marinade, bbq sauce, or rub to cook a good steak. All you need is a good piece of meat, Kosher salt and pepper. Prior to learning this, I was always a fan of bbq sauce, and cooking my meat well done. Well, the first time I cooked a steak with only Kosher salt and pepper, I produced the best steak that I ever tasted!! And I ate it without any BBQ sauce. SO, if there is a
  12. I actually bought the 2 CD compilation of songs called, America: A Tribute to Heroes. I found MANY of the songs to be very somber, but I must admit I DO love the remake of Pink Floyds "Wish You Were Here" by Limp Bizkit and Johnny Rzeznik. Now, most Floyd fans think that any remake of the original is blasphemy, but I really love this song. They also remade some of the lyrics too.. So, so you think you can tell, Heaven from hell, Blue skies from pain, Can you tell a green field, From the cold steal rail a smile from a veil, Do you think you can tell? So, So do you
  13. OK Carl, how did TIVO not pass the test??? :: :: :: What part of pausing live tv, rewinding live tv, do you not like? And that's not all, you can put your directors, actors, and other keywords into your wish list and woola, TIVO will bring up a list of programs that you can record with the touch of a button. And let's just say, for instance, you love the show The Shield staring Michael Chiklis. September rolls around and season 5 gets underway... with Tivo you can set up a Season Pass that will record every episode of The Shield with just a few clicks on the remote! Furthermore, i
  14. Google images returned close to 2000 images for "James Hetfield" alone. Lets hope you have a lot of spare time and a really fast internet connection to find the one picture you are looking for. :: If the show is on a DVD or will be re-aired on television, then another alternative is to capture a 'still' photograph using either the DVD player or tv tuner card on your pc. Nearly all media players/tuners on a pc have this feature. Unfortunately, 'still' photographs are not that great of quality. Good Luck!
  15. Am I the only one watching the mini series, Into the West? It is directed in part by Simon Wincer! As any fan of great westerns will know, Simon Wincer also directed the series Lonsome Dove! Of course, Steven Speilberg's name has more marketing value, and all you hear about is how 'Into the West is produced by Steven Speilberg'. From IMDB.com: An epic tale of two figures during the American colonization of the west, one white and the other Native American. Jacob Wheeler leaves his dull life behind to strike out west, while Loved By the Buffalo faces his destiny to try to fight a p
  16. I know what you mean.... the video is filmed from end to the beginning, yet all the while the lip synchs, and drum taps that you see in the video are in tune with the song. I must admit it is an entertaining video. I found a website that streams the video HERE. Enjoy!
  17. It sounds like Anna Nalicks song Breathe (3am). The part that matches what you wrote goes: 2Am and I'm still awake writing this song If i get it all down on paper it's no longer inside of me threaten' the life it belongs to. You can listen to the entire song HERE. Full lyrics: 2 Am and she calls me cause I'm still awake Can you help me unravel my latest mistake I don't love him and winter just wasn't my season. Yea we walk through the doors so accusing their eyes Like they have any right at all to criticize Hypocrites you're all here for the very same reason. Cause y
  18. There was a popular country song by Tommy Shane Steiner called "What are we going to do about it". This song is often refered to as 'The Starbucks Song'. If you do a google search on 'The Starbucks song' that will lead you to other parodies of the song as well. Lyrics: OK, PICTURE THIS: I?M STANDING IN THE WORLD?S LONGEST LINE AT STARBUCKS YOU KNOW THE ONE DOWN ON?.YEAH RIGHT THAT ONE. ANYWAY, I?M STANDING THERE I?M HALF ASLEEP, OF COURSE NO MAKE-UP ON AND THIS GUY I?VE NEVER SEEN BEFORE TAPS ME ON THE SHOULDER I TURN AROUND AND HE SAYS! DID YOU KNOW THERE?S 35 STARBUCKS
  19. I agree with AddictedtoClassic. Fixing the pop up problem is not going to solve all of your problems. You need a good anti virus program, anti spyware program, and a firewall. Most people dont want to pay for this stuff, if you do, I highly recommend Kaspersky anti virus personal. For a software firewall, Outpost is good. Microsoft has a free anti spyware program (beta). I guess it's better than nothing. Norton products are most popular, and probably do the job. Usually if you watch and wait, you can get their products for FREE (after mail in rebate). If you go this
  20. Next weeks performers on Jay Leno is a good line up: KEANE will appear on April 28th. SNOW PATROL will appear on April 29. ANNA NALICK will appear Monday April 25th. Keane made the cut for the 7th 'Music of Choice' list-suggested by Earth Angel. Snow Patrol has a few albums out. In past months, their hit 'Run' became a favorite of mine. Anna Nalick is already causing me a lot of regret. She performed at a FREE concert here in Portland that I did not go to! :: Her song "Breathe 2AM" is now a huge hit. If any of these spark your interest set your VCR or TIVO
  21. Just a heads up... Apparently it was the Nick Mason interview I heard a week ago. The classic rock station in Portland (KGON 92.3) is re-airing it tonight. So it is very likely it will re-air in your area as well.
  22. Ah Karumba... Computers... the things we hate-for the problems they cause, and love-for the things they give us like Songfacts. I think a forum specificaly about Computers would be a good asset to this site. Members would be able to post specific problems about their 'puters' and other members would be able to help. How about it?
  23. HEY! I resemble that thread!! :: Thanks Peaches for remembering! By the way, I am still volunteering for that place, and ALWAYS open for song suggestions! Ess, between then and now, I have come up with other songs that you may consider... Faith of the Heart - Rod Stewart Hold Your Head Up - Argent Wide Open Spaces - Dixie Chicks Who doesn't know what I'm talking about Who's never left home who's never struck out To find a dream and a life of their own A place in the clouds a foundation of stone Many precede and many will follow A young girl's dream no longer hollow
  24. Great four word-or less-movie reviews, stolen from www.fwfr.com: ANIMAL HOUSE: "From Beer to Fraternity" RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK: "God 1, Nazis 0" THE RING 2: "Destroy Ring? Bad Idea!" KRAMER VS KRAMER: "I bet Kramer wins" TITANIC "ICY DEAD PEOPLE" It's a little morbid but still worthy of a good >>> (Get it? 'I see dead people' from The Sixth Sense!) This is the top all time review from that website. Link to the TOP 100 reviews. Feel free to post your favorite from the site or come up with your own!
  25. According to THIS SITE he will do a book signing on April 19th. Details: Nick Mason, one of the members of Pink Floyd and author of Inside Out: A Personal History of Pink Floyd. 7:00 PM. Barnes & Noble Union Square, 33 East 17th St. 212.253.0810. Here is another link for various locations, including Seattle, San Francisco, LA, Ridgewood, NJ.
