bazooka Posted October 8, 2004 Report Posted October 8, 2004 Check out this site dedicated to the life and work of the late Rick Griffin (<)
bluesboy Posted October 8, 2004 Author Report Posted October 8, 2004 Here's one of my favorite posters by Rick Griffin Human Be-In / '67 / Golden Gate Park
_jr_ Posted October 8, 2004 Report Posted October 8, 2004 I had this one when I was about 15 or so. Too bad KISS doesn't get any respect around here. I also had this one.
cosmosis Posted October 8, 2004 Report Posted October 8, 2004 I had many, but most are gone. I have this one somewhere. I think it came on the Imagine record ( or was it Plastic Ono Band??).
MindCrime Posted October 8, 2004 Report Posted October 8, 2004 I have these two framed & displayed in my lounge room, along with many Pink Floyd posters, black light posters, various art replicas, abstract paintings, 3D art, etcetera. The Led Zeppelin is made out of fabric & approx 42" x 30", the Jimi I've had for a very long time & is still in mint condition.
bazooka Posted October 8, 2004 Report Posted October 8, 2004 (Old) Fillmore Auditorium, San Francisco 1966 . Grateful Dead . James Cotton Blues Band . Lothar & The Hand People
MuzikTyme Posted October 8, 2004 Report Posted October 8, 2004 I remember when this album came out. There was nothing like it at that time, IMO. One of my all-time favourites, hands down and certainly my favourite album cover and poster. I love the meaning behind it.
Tenacious_Peaches Posted October 8, 2004 Report Posted October 8, 2004 Too bad KISS doesn't get any respect around here. I absolutely respect KISS. Showmanship is a very important part of music, whether we want to admit it or not. I'd rather spend money to see a live concert with all the hoopla than to see a bunch of guys not doing anything but standing there playing sad bastard music. The sad bastard music might be more "important" and "relevant" than "Rock and Roll All Night", but I can listen to the "serious" music at home for free. You wanted the best...you got the best (spectacle)!
MuzikTyme Posted October 8, 2004 Report Posted October 8, 2004 Too bad KISS doesn't get any respect around here. I'm sure Ken has a thought or three about that statement... Oh, it's always refreshing to know that people love me hanging around.
edna Posted October 8, 2004 Report Posted October 8, 2004 Peaches, I love your Kiss poster!!! I can´t post pictures because (did I say it only 64 times?) my scanner is packed and I guess I can´t post anything from my personal files... Well, I´ll have to read once again the instructions. Good thread!
Elvish Posted October 8, 2004 Report Posted October 8, 2004 Here are a few that I have. The first is a Grateful Dead called "Peace, Love, and Jellybeans." It's pictorial representations of some of their songs and can only be fully appreciated in person. :: Can't seem to get the last one to show up.
bluesboy Posted October 8, 2004 Author Report Posted October 8, 2004 Here's the skull & roses image created by Stanley Mouse and Alton Kelley from the Family Dog Series FD - 26 Grateful Dead Oxford Circle Avalon Ballroom ( San Francisco) 9/16-17/66
bluesboy Posted October 8, 2004 Author Report Posted October 8, 2004 bazooka, here's a Bo Diddley just for you FD - 18 Bo Diddley Quicksilver Messenger Service Avalon Ballroom 7/28/66 artists - Stanley Mouse Alton Kelley
bluesboy Posted October 8, 2004 Author Report Posted October 8, 2004 This Rick Griffin poster is in my top five. I couldn't afford the first or second printings, so I settled for a bootleg copy. BG - 105 Jimi Hendrix John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers Albert King 2/1,4/68 - Fillmore 2/2,3/68 - Winterland (San Francisco) artist - Rick Griffin
Tenacious_Peaches Posted October 8, 2004 Report Posted October 8, 2004 BB, all of those posters are amazing. Do you actually own all of them or just aspire to? And that was great to post one of the almighty Bo Diddley for Bazooka... ::
miamisammy29 Posted October 8, 2004 Report Posted October 8, 2004 Congrats to MusikTyme, who is now a very large Bluefin. And, Jr, KISS f***in' rules, and don't ever let anybody tell you different!! My favorite picture of them is the one off the "Dressed To Kill" album, with the makeup and the three-piece suits...very cool.
bluesboy Posted October 8, 2004 Author Report Posted October 8, 2004 Hi Peaches, Right now I have 18 posters / 12 framed and on the walls, with 6 waiting in storage. Yes, I have: the Mike Bloomfield & Al Kooper BG - 138 the Jimi Hendrix BG - 105 No, I don't have: the Human Be-In (pow wow) the Skull & Roses - Grateful Dead FD - 26 the Bo Diddley FD - 18 Eventually, I should post all the ones I have. ::
TheCyberdemon Posted October 8, 2004 Report Posted October 8, 2004 Peaches JUST proved what I have been saying all this time. KISS IS the gayest band. If you look at that gif, the cat guy is jerking off the guy doing the sissy leg thing; I think he's flinching. He doesn't seem to mind.
bluesboy Posted October 8, 2004 Author Report Posted October 8, 2004 artist - Lee Conklin BG - 101 Vanilla Fudge Steve Miller Band Sonny Terry & Brownie McGhee 1/4/68 - Fillmore 1/5-6/68 - Winterland
