sutho Posted August 12, 2004 Report Posted August 12, 2004 :guitar:Just wondering what's your favorite ever Guitar Riff? try and narrow it down to just one, it's got to be a riff not a solo or lead part mine is probably LAYLA i dont think riffs come much better than this.
cosmosis Posted August 12, 2004 Report Posted August 12, 2004 Too many. Right now 'Love Me Two Times' cuz I'm listening to The Doors at this moment.
Batman Posted August 12, 2004 Report Posted August 12, 2004 The least I could narrow down was 3: Day tripper Heartbreaker the beginning intro riff of "Burning of the Midnight Lamp"
Batman Posted August 12, 2004 Report Posted August 12, 2004 The least I could narrow down was 4: Day tripper Heartbreaker the beginning intro riff of "Burning of the Midnight Lamp" Back in Black
_Jayson_ Posted August 12, 2004 Report Posted August 12, 2004 "Smoke on the water" is probably the most recognizable. But I cant really think of a favorite right now. Edit: "Have a Cigar" - Pink Floyd is one of my favorites.
Aunt_Acid Posted August 12, 2004 Report Posted August 12, 2004 Hey! I made this same thread a while back. What, I'm not good enough for you guys? I like the riff in La Grange in the beginning. It's too catchy.
lotsahits Posted August 12, 2004 Report Posted August 12, 2004 Well, someone's gotta say it so it'll be me. Satisfaction. Check please. Done.
miamisammy29 Posted August 12, 2004 Report Posted August 12, 2004 A couple of my favorites are "Man on the Silver Mountain" by Rainbow, and "Limelight" by Rush.
Danielj Posted August 12, 2004 Report Posted August 12, 2004 Limelight Smoke On The Water Back In Black Crossroads Layla
Jillianne Posted August 12, 2004 Report Posted August 12, 2004 'Cocaine' is good one :guitar: but I can't choose my favourite
miamisammy29 Posted August 12, 2004 Report Posted August 12, 2004 "Tunnel of Love", "Expresso Love", and "Solid Rock" --- all off the same album "Making Movies" by Dire Straits. Buy it.
_Annabelle_ Posted August 12, 2004 Report Posted August 12, 2004 "Layla", "Sunshine of Your Love" and ?Day Tripper? all boast excellent riffs. The Kinks had some terrific ones featured in ?You Really Got Me? and ?All Day and All of The Night? and the opening and interspersed riff on Aerosmith?s ?Walk This Way? is fantastic. AC/DC, imo, created some of hard rock?s best, most powerful riffs (e.g. Highway To Hell, Rock N? Roll ain?t Noise Pollution etc.) thus my favorite would have to be ?Back In Black? with ?Layla? running a close second.
cosmosis Posted August 12, 2004 Report Posted August 12, 2004 Drive My Car by The Beatles has a great guitar/bass riff. I don't think I've seen this song mentioned around here before. I also like the key change before the chorus, and the whole progression in general.
