MindCrime
#175!? Every once in a while I actually stop to think about these numbers .... and sheesh, we've done this for 175 weeks without interruption. Amazing. Which means this is the end of this chapter and another Ultimate 10 is on the way.
cyberjudge
In honor of the guru of pop music countdowns, Casey Kasem, who is retiring after countin' 'em down for 39 years, a song that topped Casey's AT-40 countdown on November 3, 1979 : Pop Muzik-M (1979) "Listen to the countdown, they're playing our song again." And as a "TT-175 Extra", the first song ever played by Casey on AT-40 the week of July 4, 1970 . Here's how he introduced his show: "Here we go with the Top 40 hits of the nation this week on American Top 40, the best-selling and most-played songs from the Atlantic to the Pacific, from Canada to Mexico. This is Casey Kasem in Hollywood, and in the next three hours, we'll count down the 40 most popular hits in the United States this week, hot off the record charts of Billboard magazine for the week ending July 11, 1970. In this hour at #32 in the countdown, a song that's been a hit 4 different times in 19 years! And we're just one tune away from the singer with the $10,000 gold hubcaps on his car! Now, on with the countdown!" :guitar: Number four-ty! The End of Our Road-Marvin Gaye (1970)

Farin
.....and that's all I got. The rest of the songs I've either never heard of or don't like. You should have let more people nominate, there weren't enough songs this time compared to other lists. I mean it sucks when I can't fill out a full list of 10. if you haven't heard the songs then go check them out I think almost everyone has youtube links or similar with them. And to tell you the truth - checking out new music is something like the purpose of the Top Tens. People know that they can nominate songs from Monday to Wednesday, that's when voting starts every week (of the last 175), also I think the regulars who haven't nominated didn't do it because they're currently on vacation (I know of at least four for who that is the case), so leaving nominations open for another hour or two wouldn't have made a difference... of course I would have liked more nominations as well, but that's the game
pinkstones
I have very particular music taste. It's why I don't bother listening to terrestrial radio anymore; it's all crap. Anyway, very few songs left are songs I've never heard of. 95% of them are songs I can't stand.

Farin
that's sad in that case I would recommend you vote for three songs which you dislike the least (or listen to the remaining couple which you don't know yet, in the hope you'd like them) I can only count your votes if you vote for 10 songs (not more or less) Edited July 15, 2009 by Guest added quote

pinkstones
No it's not. I listen to satelite radio or online radio. For starters I avoid commercials. Two, I control what I want to listen to. Only classic rock? Only oldies? Only jazz? Only blues? Only singers and standards? The quality of what I listen to is up to me, not some corporate drone. Farin
I don't listen to (most) commercial radio either - for the same reason you do what I meant with the sad part was that there are so many songs here in this list that you don't like... I don't think that's sad either. There's a lot of songs I nominate that I don't see anyone else choosing for whatever reason but I don't assume it's sad of them not to. I just figure that like me, they like what they like.
