lonelyday
Hey y'all, I am putting together an awesome 21st present, and part of it will be a CD with songs about magic. Pretty much I am looking for songs about magic, with magic in the lyrics or which may remind you of something to do with magic. The idea only dawned on me about a minute ago so at the moment I only have a few ideas... Do You Believe in Magic?- The Loving Spoonful The Themes to Bewitched and I Dream of Genie The World Should Run on Magic - Teacups Any ideas would be absolutely fantastic! =)

Shawna
jeez, Lea... you rattled those off with the same speed I rattled off country songs for Laurie. I don't know if magic+sorcery/witchery, etc. but if so, then I'd say just about anything Stevie Nicks is fairly magical. Or Loreena McKennitt. blind-fitter
Didn't Barry Manilow do a catchy one.. "Could It Be Magic?"...later covered by Take That? Might be mistaken: my knowledge of the cheese-pop genre is a bit sketchy.
blind-fitter
Assuming that lonelyday wouldn't be so tasteless as to include that song (^^^^) on an intended gift for a friend, I'll make a more serious suggestion. The best song I can think of about magic- or, more specifically, about a magician - is "The Disillusionist" by The Church, from their "Priest = Aura" album. Excellent album, and this is probs my favourite track thereupon. Unfortunately, I can't provide a link to it, but maybe somebody else might? JumboXL
My favourite magic song is Dr.John The Nighttripper's Gris-Gris Gumbo Ya-Ya. Or does the following offer cross the line between magic and quackery? "They call me, Dr. John, The Night Tripper Got my sizzling Gris-Gris in my hand Day trippin' up, Back down by you I'm the last of the best They call me the Gris-Gris man Got many clients Come from miles around Running down my prescription I got my medicine, to cure all your ills I got remedies of every description (Gris-Gris Gumbo Ya Ya) Hey Now (Gris-Gris Gumbo Ya Ya) Hey Now If you got love trouble, got a bad woman you can't control I got just the thing for you Something called control in the hearts get together drops. If you work to hard and you need a little rest try my utilize rub put some on my drop fix and jam, put some in your breakfast."
cyberjudge
Dark Lady-Cher The fortune queen of New Orleans, Was brushing her cat in her black limousine On the backseat were scratches from The marks of men her fortune she had won Couldn't see through the tinted glass, She said "Home James" and he hit the gas I Followed her to some darkened room, She took my money, she said "I'll be with you soon" Dark Lady laughed and danced and lit the candles one by one Danced to her gypsy music till her brew was done Dark Lady played black magic till the clock struck on the twelve She told me more about me than I knew myself She dealt two cards, a queen and a three And mumbled some words that were so strange to me Then she turned up a two-eyed jack, My eyes saw red but the card still stayed black She said the man you love is secretly true To someone else who is very close to you My advice is that you leave this place, Never come back and forget you ever saw my face Dark Lady laughed and danced and lit the candles one by one Danced to her gypsy music till her brew was done Dark Lady played black magic till the clock struck on the twelve She told me more about me than I knew myself So I ran home and crawled in my bed, I couldn't sleep because of all the things she said Then I remembered her strange perfume, And how I smelled it was in my own room! So I sneaked back and caught her with my man, Laughing and kissing till they saw the gun in my hand The next thing I knew they were dead on the floor, Dark Lady would never turn a card up anymore Dark Lady laughed and danced and lit the candles one by one Danced to her gypsy music till her brew was done Dark Lady played black magic till the clock struck on the twelve She told me more about me than I knew myself
