Sheryl Crow has a song called "Love is A Good Thing" that talks about people shooting each other with a gun bought at a "Wal-Mart discount store". In the early sixties, The Rolling Stones recorded a commercial message for "Rice Crispies". In Europe, the soundtrack was broadcasted by one of the first American-style commercial radiostations: Radio Luxemburg. Here is Abba doing an ad for National Electronics And this is legendary Oz band Sherbert's Coke ad Australian "Queen Of Pop", Christie Allen sang an ad for Tarino soft-drink, and I'm sure there were many more. This was just before they gatecrashed the UK charts and hit #1 with "Are Friends Electric?". To cash in on the combined cultish appeal of the ad and the sudden success of Tubeway Army, the song was swiftly re-recorded and issued as a single - but performed by John DuCann (of Atomic Rooster) instead of Gary Numan - and scored a minor chart hit.
