I saw two shooting stars last night

I wished on them but they were only satellites

Is it wrong to wish on space hardware?

I wish, I wish, I wish you'd care

I say "don't you know?"

You say you don't know

A New England ~ Billy Bragg (1983) Link]

I always thought that this song had the cleverest opening lyric I had ever heard... and then I discovered that it was lifted whole from Paul Simon:

I was 21 years when I wrote this song

And I'm 22 now, but I won't be for long

Great song anyway!

dern you nominators of my favourite bands!

I had a very hard time choosing a single Suede nom. Trash isn't really a stand-out favourite of mine, but that whole album is one of those rarities where I love each and every song. I prefer it to to the more serious early albums. Blasphemy, I know ;-)
