varsity08
I'm looking for songs about the girl of your dreams; not being able to find her, not being able to get her, wondering who she is... Sweetness by Jimmy Eat World is the only one that I can think of that kind of fits. Any suggestions?
Shawna
This one might fill the bill. "I've Gotta Find You" Lonestar I've got this dream that won't go away When I close my eyes you're there night or day Baby whatever it takes I've gotta find you Are you someone I know or that I'll meet by chance Are you somewhere close or in a far away land Across the ocean or burnin' sand, I've gotta find you I've gotta find you, don't care how long it takes I know when I do it'll be worth the wait With God as my witness and love as my guiding star Maybe Miami on some sandy beach New York City making waves on Wall Street No matter where you are, I've gotta find you I've gotta find you You could be a checker at the grocery store For all I know you're the girl next door One thing I know for sure, I've gotta find you You might be a waitress workin' your way through school Or the anchor person on the six o'clock news Only my heart knows who, I've gotta find you I've gotta find you, don't care how long it takes I know when I do it'll be worth the wait With God as my witness and love as my guiding star Maybe Miami on some sandy beach New York City making waves on Wall Street No matter where you are, I've gotta find you No matter where you are, I've gotta find you I've gotta find you

Foolonthehill
Great topic! Lady Fantasy- Camel Listen very carefully, my words are about to unfold Concerning a lady I've seen but I never could hold I can see by your smile, Take a long while, The words that come through, I see that they're true, For she reminds me of you. Don't misunderstand me, it's not always easy to say The words in your head and your heart that you just can't explain I can see clearly, A face in the sky, Moon's in your eye, You're passing me by. Tell me the reason why. I can see clearly, A face in the sky, Moon's in your eye, You're passing me by. Saw you riding on a moon cloud, Saw you walking on a whirlpool, From the corner of my eye, I saw you. Saw you sitting on a sunbeam, In the middle of my daydream, Oh my Lady Fantasy, I love you. I Will- The Beatles Who knows how long I've loved you, You know I love you still, Will I wait a lonely lifetime? If you want me to I will And if I ever saw you I didn't catch your name But it never really mattered I will always feel the same Love you forever, and forever Love you with all my heart Love you whenever we're together Love you when we're apart And when at last I find you, This song will fill the air Sing it loud so I can hear you Make it easy to be near you All the things you do endear you to me Oh, you know I will (typed from memory. I love that song.)

Ken
Jim Croce Roller Derby Queen Gonna tell you a story that you won't believe But I fell in love last Friday evenin' With a girl I saw on a bar room TV screen Well I was just gettin' ready to get my hat When she caught my eye and I put it back And I ordered myself a couple o' more shots and beers Chorus: The night (you know) that I fell in love with a Roller Derby Queen (Round 'n' round, oh round 'n' round) The meanest hunk o' woman That anybody ever seen Down in the arena She is a five foot six and two fifteen A bleached-blonde mama with a streak of mean She knew how to knuckle And she knew how to scuffle and fight And the roller derby program said That she were built like a 'fridgerator with a head The fans called her "Tuffy" But all her buddies called her "Spike" Chorus Round 'n' round, go round 'n' round (3 x's) Well I could not help it but to fall in love With this heavy-duty woman I been speakin' of Things looked kind of bad Until the day she skated into my life Well she might be nasty she might be fat But I never met a person who would tell her that She's my big blonde bomber My heavy handed Hackensack mama Chorus Round 'n' round, go round 'n' round (3 x's)

Mike
Another that comes to mind is ... JENNIFER JUNIPER Donovan Jennifer Juniper lives upon the hill, Jennifer Juniper, sitting very still. Is she sleeping ? I don't think so. Is she breathing ? Yes, very low. Whatcha doing, Jennifer, my love ? Jennifer Juniper, rides a dappled mare, Jennifer Juniper, lilacs in her hair. Is she dreaming ? Yes, I think so. Is she pretty ? Yes, ever so. Whatcha doing, Jennifer, my love ? I'm thinking of what it would be like if she loved me. You know just lately this happy song it came along And I like to somehow try and tell you. Jennifer Juniper, hair of golden flax. Jennifer Juniper longs for what she lacks. Do you like her ? Yes, I do, Sir. Would you love her ? Yes, I would, Sir. Whatcha doing Jennifer, my love ? Jennifer Juniper, Jennifer Juniper, Jennifer Juniper. Jennifer Juniper vit sur la colline, Jennifer Juniper assise trs tranquille. Dort-elle ? Je ne crois pas. Respire-t-elle ? Oui, mais tout bas. Qu'est-ce que tu fais, Jenny mon amour ? Jennifer Juniper, Jennifer Juniper, Jennifer Juniper.

Veritas
Eric Carmen's "Boats Against the Current" perhaps inspired by Fitzgerald's book "The Great Gatsby". A song of unrequited love between Jay Gatsby and Daisy Buchanan.

JumboXL
The most beeee-u-tiful song ever about THE girl of your dreams is from Neil Young: Lookin' for a love. Oh, and by the way, I can happily say that I intensely shared the mood of the song at the time it was released, and not long afterwards I found her. I have always been, and I still am today, working on the last line of the chorus (But I hope I treat her kind...). I've been looking for a lover But I haven't met her yet She'll be nothing like I pictured her to be In her eyes I will discover another reason why I want to live and make the best of what I see. Where the sun hits the water and the mountains meet the sand There's a beach that I walk along sometimes And maybe there I'll meet her And we'll start to say 'hello' And never stop to think of any other time. Looking' for a love that's right for me I don't know how long it's going to be But I hope I treat her kind And don't mess with her mind When she starts to see the darker side of me. Shawna
those last three lines are rather ominous, actually. Almost like an abuser about to strike.
