Levis Posted September 1, 2008 Report Posted September 1, 2008 One for the TT: Das Modell - Kraftwerk (1978) Sie ist ein Modell und sie sieht gut aus (really - this has to get in already ) And one for me: Vapour Trail - Ride (1990) And all my time is yours as much as mine We never have enough time to show our love lalala la la
katie_sane Posted September 1, 2008 Report Posted September 1, 2008 Sex Type Thing - Stone Temple Pilots (1992) December - Collective Soul (1995)
c_s_1987 Posted September 1, 2008 Report Posted September 1, 2008 Black Night - Deep Purple (1970) Mind's Eye - Wolfmother (2005)
TheLizard Posted September 1, 2008 Report Posted September 1, 2008 Nobody Loves Us - Morrissey (1995) Love The One You're With - Stephen Stills (1971)
Steel2Velvet Posted September 1, 2008 Report Posted September 1, 2008 It was interesting to revisit the first TT by way of Ryansgirl's link today. I had credited RonJon with introducing me to Who's Slip Kid, when it was Sammy who first nominated it. But because we did not incorporate YouTube in the process, I was unable to appreciate that song, based on Sam's nom. This points up the revolutionary nature of attaching the actual song to the noms, allowing us to share our favorite music with one another. I am curious if anyone knows which SFer was the first to link YouTube to a nomination? That, to me, was the true beginning of an impactful TT. Take On Me - A-ha 1986 Fresh Air - Quicksilver Messenger Service 1969
Shawna Posted September 1, 2008 Report Posted September 1, 2008 Shawna la, Here's Your Answer I still can't see it, but I know what's going on. Man, that "ignore" feature works well.
MindCrime Posted September 1, 2008 Report Posted September 1, 2008 I am curious if anyone knows which SFer was the first to link YouTube to a nomination? I am pretty sure it was Farin who started doing it. I could be wrong about that though.
Lucky Posted September 1, 2008 Author Report Posted September 1, 2008 I remember as well. Doing that changed the Top Ten dramatically, I think. Good job kiddo!
Lea Posted September 1, 2008 Report Posted September 1, 2008 I couldn't imagine trying to do the tens without being able to hear the music I would never have been able to discover new music that I have grown quite fond of. Like Farins Manu Chao Or some of the stuff edna gave me links to and the guy from Viaene's PTT. How very sad that would be I don't even like thinking about it Good job Farin, you rock
Tenacious_Peaches Posted September 1, 2008 Report Posted September 1, 2008 Fabulous, ferocious, fantastic Farin! Happy birthday, btw.
The Seeker Posted September 1, 2008 Report Posted September 1, 2008 I think Martin and Dappled both had the same idea in the same thread... TT#25 as far as I can tell. Dappled just suggested it, but Martin actually went ahead and did it. One way or the other... it was a great idea
Tenacious_Peaches Posted September 1, 2008 Report Posted September 1, 2008 Dignified, delightful, dashing Dappled! Happy birthday to you as well, sir.
Lucky Posted September 1, 2008 Author Report Posted September 1, 2008 yay Dap! It seems several of us have had the same thoughts this week. I looked back into the first tens as well, looking for some of my own noms that hadn't made the ten, or been youtubed. That's where I got my Springsteen nom for this week.
MindCrime Posted September 1, 2008 Report Posted September 1, 2008 It seems like songs that didn't do well in the beginning are able to make it all the way to number 1 now. There's actually a few from the first week that were recent TT toppers.
edna Posted September 1, 2008 Report Posted September 1, 2008 Dapp, you´re the best!!! .bow: Plus you´re an Airplane fan... plus you love The Move and other rarities... plus plenty of other things... Martin, you know I love you from long time ago...
karma Posted September 2, 2008 Report Posted September 2, 2008 yeah, what she said too. I am truly loving this site and am so glad I joined. All you beautiful people ROCK
Dappled Posted September 2, 2008 Report Posted September 2, 2008 Thank you for the nice words! I don't think I was the first to post a YouTube-video in the TT, though. I think Farin or Edna did, but then Darryl removed the video as it showed nakedness or something. The first nom I linked to a youtube video was Beggin by The 4 Seasons. I love that song and might nominate it again....yes I think I'll do that: Beggin' (1967) I didn't know this song was the opening song for that Bond movie. Did You? Nom #2 Black Messiah - The Kinks (1978)
