MindCrime Posted July 3, 2009 Report Posted July 3, 2009 People outside of the United States probably won't get the humor.
Kevin Posted July 3, 2009 Report Posted July 3, 2009 I'm very certain that these 'toys' have their origin in Japan . The Japanese find such renderings cute and you will find numerous examples in eveything from comics and advertising to serious health information put out by the government . They are not in the least considered tasteless or offensive.
MindCrime Posted July 3, 2009 Report Posted July 3, 2009 I don't think they're tasteless or offensive either, they're just harmless toys for kids.
Kevin Posted July 3, 2009 Report Posted July 3, 2009 Agreed , but I'm sure you'd get some odd looks from many parents were you to give them to their kids . This type of stuff is usually found in those party favor / risque humor or gift shops in the US , for adults with the appropriate type of sense of humor in mind, right ? Not likely Toys -R-Us as they could be here . Either that , or things have really changed since I've last been home for any length of time .
MindCrime Posted July 3, 2009 Report Posted July 3, 2009 Spencer's Gifts would be the place that sells them here, I don't think there's a adult / taboo toy that they don't have.
c_s_1987 Posted July 3, 2009 Report Posted July 3, 2009 People outside of the United States probably won't get the humor. I get it. Mostly because here in Australia we get more coverage of the US elections than our own elections, and pretty much no coverage of any other country's elections. Why? Who knows.
Farin Posted July 3, 2009 Report Posted July 3, 2009 Re: US elections in foreign countries on election day ('night' for us) we had 6-9 hour special broadcasts in the 4 biggest channels (not including news channels)
Epiphany Posted July 3, 2009 Report Posted July 3, 2009 Haha! Parents should really do this! "How does the cute, fluffy puppy burger taste?"

Who knows Re: US elections in foreign countries on election day ('night' for us) we had 6-9 hour special broadcasts in the 4 biggest channels (not including news channels) I feel sorry for people in other nations then, I get bored enough watching my own election (or anything that has to do with politics)
MarcM Posted July 4, 2009 Report Posted July 4, 2009 That explains why I did not get it. Not a big Cure fan.
c_s_1987 Posted July 4, 2009 Report Posted July 4, 2009 Even though I've heard that song about 100 times before and remember all the lyrics, I didn't realise the picture was about that song until you mentioned it. I are slow.
Epiphany Posted July 5, 2009 Report Posted July 5, 2009 I didn't get it first either, but I see it now. Now the song's stuck in my head.
Jenny Posted July 6, 2009 Report Posted July 6, 2009 Ah yes, Friday, I'm in Love. Had to be told of the connection, though <-----stoopid
