  1. You said it, Catherine: faster, no carpal tunnel, and once I was a secretary, my boss stared at me and said: "It´s amazing, you´ve been my secretary for two years, the best I ever had and I just realized you tape with just three fingers!!!" As for accuracy, I´m very very good... I srwae Im a, idnede!!
  2. I understand that drug is an essential part of our rock background. Most of us grew with it, lived the summer of love or had older brothers who did, we were curious, etc. I remember when I was a teen, if you didn´t smoke pot you were a straight, or a square. Then came heroin, well, if the rolling stones and Lou Reed are junkies and write hymns about it, it must be good... or not? So let´s try... and Lou Reed did "Heroin" on stage with a nurse fixing him (this was in Madrid 25 years ago or more, I saw it) And Mick sang "you gotta mix it, yeah, and you gotta fix it, it must be loved, it´s a bitch"... I won´t continue with all the references to drugs we can find in rock lyrics (or suicide). Personally, I´ve tasted everything and I never been hooked on anything, but I also lost many friends because of heroin or AIDS. I´m not saying that our music heroes are responsable for making that propaganda, because they also were part of those decades, that was the big thing by then. So I´m very confused about drugs, they´ve been a very important part of my life as well as for my generation. I just wonder if we can really talk of "Best Drugs Songs" without thinking of this price many had to pay. Funny, nobody mentioned "Heroin" by Lou Reed. I know, it´s not a good song, it´s stupid and aging bad... but it left many sad traces. Oh, I´m not against drug... it´s just that I was going to roll me a joint and I ran out of paper...
  3. Then she should call herself Tina Bullock...or whatever her name was...
  4. Well, at least somebody votes for Simon and Garfunkel!!!
  5. Deborah Harry (Blondie). She looks happy, she had great fun in life, she´s rich and she´s aging very well. Or Mick Jagger. He also looks very happy, she also had great fun, he´s also very rich and aging very well.
  6. I´ve seen Elton John live and he certainelly does no miming, in fact he´s very good. I´ve also seen Madonna and I´d say that she doesn´t neither... Actually I saw her a couple of times but I wasn´t paying too much attention, it was always in big stadiums and I´m not as fan as to go to the first line...she might as well be using some tapes for the playback, but I wouldn´t call it cheating. Miming is what you do on TV shows, for instance (well, in some of them)
  7. I´m a journalist since... ever, and I write full speed with two, three or four fingers (one or two per hand) I go faster than a secretary as I spent most of my life doing it. I don´t know how much words per minute I tape.
  8. How could we forget these ones? What about Paul and Linda? Or John and Yoko? Actually, John and Yoko didn´t sing together, John was very wise and he would let her sing, but only on HER part. He had already enough with Paul...
  9. I do the same. I tried to log in with AMG but seems I don´t have the right browser or my mac 9.2 is not enough whoknowswhat... I just google and then go from link to link, and finally I get what I want or I go back to songfacts and post my question... wise!

  13. Let´s not forger the Bee Gees, though they are/were three. Or the Beach Boys. Do the Corrs count? Allman Brothers? CCR? Didn´t Johnny Cash sing sometimes with his wife?

    Dreams

Let me tell you one dream I had the other night: I was the Queen of the World and the whole planet was standing, shouting and screaming "Hourray" "Long Live" etc... and I was just smiling, walking through my zillions of fans. Plenty of flashes and lights and all that stuff. That´s all folks. Thanks for lending an ear (eye).
  15. Bazooka, that National lampoon site is great!!! I´m still laughing... my favourite was Rabi Saul... Thanks for leting me know! I guess it must have something to do with the MAD crew as they were advertising on top of the site, and it´s very much their kind of humor. I don´t read it anymore as I don´t find it that great now, but I grew up with MAD, it´s there I learned my English... with a little help from the Beatles.
  16. It´s not bad at all!! It don´t suck at all! At least you have guts to post your feelings, and knowing you´re very young and have a good music taste I´d tell you to keep on writing and rocking. John Lennon didn´t better at your age... We´ll be hearing of you and then remember your first lyric, sure.
  17. "My little runnaway", Del Shannon. It was sounding on the merry-go-round I used to go to when I was 2 or 3. At 6 I fell in love with the Beatles "Twist and Shout" and first record I bought for me (daddy gave me the money...) was "Paint it Black", Stones, back in...67?
  18. You mean THESE classics? I love them too, specially Bonnie Tyler. The other classics I like are Beatles, Bob Dylan, Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd... As for the more classics yet, Tchaikovski´s "Swan Lake" is my favourite. Liszt, almost everything. I also like opera"Faust" (Gounod) and "Carmen" (Bizet)
  19. I found that it´s not exactly Nigerian but Yorubean (from Yoruba tribe). OK, obladi-oblada and I still have to go shopping.
  20. OOOlevy, check the song in Songfacts, you´ll find more info about it.
  21. Oh, so there is a Songfact on this song! Maybe we should have checked before... but then maybe we wouldn´t have learn how to say "life goes on" in Nigerian... I´ll check. Hey, I found out, Dr. MC: ____!!
  22. Oh, I apologize, doctor MC, what was I thinking of...? besides, I´d like to call you that horizontal bar sign, but I cannot find it on my computer board.
  23. You´re welcome, MC. have you noticed we can even learn things like Nigerian, for instance? This site is great!
