* Nominate two songs released from 1945 on, that haven't made the Ten before (please click to view Every Song That's Made The Songfactors' Choice Top Tens.

* When nominations close, choose your favorite Ten songs in order of preference from the Final Nominations and post them on here. Points are allotted 10 for your #1 song, 9 for #2, Etc. and our Top Ten is compiled from them.

* You'll be happy to know that our good friend Martin is rejoining the team as our 'relief' member. With his wealth of experience in all facets of the Top Ten he will be able to fill in when Fin has exams, or I decide to take my world cruise! No seriously, we need someone to take up the slack.

I promised to nominate a song by a certain band when I make my comeback and I'm very willing to keep that promise :)

Also, I would like to dedicate it, not to a particular person, but to about half of the regular crowd in the Songfacts forum

In Hiding ~ Pearl Jam (1998)

[spoilerq:1]Lyrics[/spoilerq]

[spoilera:1]I shut and locked the front door

No way in or out

I turned and walked the hallway

And pulled the curtains down

I knelt and emptied the mouth of every club around

But nothing's sound, nothing's sound

I'd stay but my last tab left me

Ignored all my rounds

Soon I was seeing visions and cracks along the walls

They were upside down

I swallow my words to keep from lying

I swallow my face just to keep from biting, I, I..

I swallowed my breath and went deep, I was diving, diving

I surfaced when all of my pen wasn't writing

I'm in hiding

I'm in hiding

I'm in hiding

I'm in hiding

It's been about three days now

Since I've been aground

No longer overwhelmed and it seems so simple now

It's funny when things change so much

It's all state of mind

I swallowed my words to keep from lying

I swallowed my face just to keep from biting I, I...

I swallowed my breath and went deep, I was diving, I was diving

I surfaced and all of my being was enlightened

Now I'm in hiding

I'm in hiding

I'm in hiding

I'm in hiding

...[/spoilera]

and the second is a, imho, great Rock song - without guitar! ( )

My Doorbell ~ The White Stripes (2005)

if anyone wants to make me a "Welcome Back" present: the best thing you could do for me is listen to the songs :)

thank you

I Got A Line On You ~ Spirit 1968

Riding The Storm Out ~ REO Speedwagon 1973

I saw REO Speedwagon last summer with Styx and they sounded great...I also saw these two bands in 78 and they did just as good as they did back then...they rocked the place, and Kevin Cronin did that same speech, and light show last summer the same way he did it back in 78....loved it!...those were the days...Holding my lighter up to that tune...I went through a couple of lighters during that concert!
