_Laurie_
Well Cyber, for me I like more of the hard edge Heart songs....the ones you listed are just okay for me....it may depend on what the other noms are....
OLD 55
I like Heart's 'nice' songs too. I never thought of them being the female Led Zeppelin (as Sammy said). I think the first 2 have done the rounds a couple of times before, but lots of renoms are making it lately. I might vote for those depending on the other noms at the time, as Laurie said. Nothing else there appeals to me much, sorry. Dappled my old Mate, I prefer the original Teddy Bears' version of 'To Know Him Is To Love Him'. I'd vote it highly. How about Peter & Gordon's A World Without Love ? I can't recall it having been nominated before.
_Laurie_
Glad All Over ~ Dave Clark Five 55.. I like World Without Love..I would consider it... Edited March 29, 2008 by Guest
cyberjudge
I'll definitely vote for Glad All Over. They're a great band that's been underrepresented so far. Plus, a tribute is appropriate to lead singer Mike Smith, who died just last month. A World Without Love would be on my short list as well. OLD 55
Actually checked the archive: not one of these 3 Heart songs has ever been nominated! That's surprising. I thought we had a few Heart songs nominated. Maybe they've been in 'Videos for prospective' and I'm thinking of that. I'd certainly vote Glad All Over highly. The DC5 and Manfred Mann (Paul Jones singing lead) are greatly underrated. Two of my favorite U.K. Groups. Pretty Flamingo - Manfred Mann And I also like the Turtles heaps Laurie, and although that isn't one of my favorites of theirs, I'd probably vote for it. You reminded me that I've had Elenore on my Lista for ages. Trouble is, I could never find a good video clip for it. This one is just music with pics. They're about as old as me in the 'live' ones. cyberjudge
Several Heart songs have been nominated, 3 reaching the top 10 (Barracuda, Crazy on You , Magic Man), but none of the 3 I listed had ever been nominated.
OLD 55
Sorry Jeff - I didn't mean it to sound that I was doubting you. No offence intended. Magic Man would have been the only one of those I'd vote for (if I did).

phil
The "Alabama Song" (also known as "Whiskey Bar") was originally published in Bertolt Brecht's Hauspostille (1927). It was set to music by Kurt Weill for the 1927 "Songspiel" Mahagonny and used again in Weill's and Brecht's 1930 opera Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny.
